Black Butte Ranch Big Meadow Golf Course among Golfweek's best courses

(BLACK BUTTE RANCH, Ore.) - The stunning Big Meadow mountain golf course at Black Butte Ranch has been recognized by Golfweek as one of the "Best Courses You Can Play" in Oregon for 2013.

Designed by Robert Muir Graves, the Big Meadow golf course is the centerpiece of Black Butte Ranch, a breathtaking 1,800-acre community framed by the Cascade Mountain Range, just a short drive from the charming western town of Sisters, Oregon. The Big Meadow Golf Course, debuted in 1970 and updated in 2007, has been one of central Oregon golfers' favorites, garnering numerous awards over its 30 plus years. This Golfweek ranking has Black Butte Ranch sharing the spotlight with such other elite courses as Pacific Dunes, Bandon Dunes and Bandon Trails, and places Big Meadow among four Central Oregon courses recognized.

The Big Meadow golf course stretches over 7,000 yards from the championship tees and features expansive fairways, sweeping cape and bay bunkers and elevated green complexes to challenge golfers of all skill levels.

Every component of the course is integrated into the spectacular mountain setting of Black Butte Ranch with towering Ponderosa pines and shimmering stands of Aspen trees. The fourteenth hole presents one of the Northwests' finest golf course photography opportunities, providing golfers with a dramatic view of Three Fingered Jack, a jagged volcanic peak rising above the Central Oregon landscape.

"World renowned designer Robert Muir Graves created a masterpiece with the Big Meadow Course, one of two championship golf courses at Black Butte Ranch," said Jeff Fought, Director of Golf at Black Butte Ranch. "We are thrilled with the national-class recognition gained from Golfweek magazine. Their evaluation of the course certainly matches the view of our owners and players, who are generous with their praise of the architectural pedigree and immaculate course conditioning."

With Spring just around the corner, golfers will soon have the opportunity to enjoy incredible golf at Black Butte Ranch -- at the recently recognized Big Meadow course and the not-to-be-missed Glaze Meadow course redesigned last year by architect John Fought.
