Cog Hill Golf and Country Club to Host 2022 Boys and Girls Junior PGA Championships

46th Boys & Girls Junior PGA Championships — Aug. 2-5, 2022

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) — Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Palos Park, Illinois, will host both the Boys and Girls Junior PGA Championships in 2022. Both events will take place August 2-5, 2022. The 46th edition of each event will feature 156 players in a stroke play competition.

These Championships have been springboards for many of the PGA and LPGA Tours’ most accomplished players. Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Phil Mickelson have competed on the Boys side, while the list of past Girls Junior PGA winners includes Major Champions Inbee Park, Yuka Saso and Lexi Thompson.

Owned and operated by Jemsek Golf since 1951, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club is home to four distinct golf courses near Chicago and within the Illinois PGA Section. The 2022 events will mark the first time the course will host either of the Junior PGA Championships. Cog Hill is well acquainted with notable professional golf championships, having hosted the PGA Tour's BMW Championship from 2009-2011.

“Hosting both the Boys and Girls Junior PGA Championships at the same venue during the same week means the excitement level for junior golf will be raised dramatically,” said PGA of America President Jim Richerson, who is also the Senior Vice President of Operations for Troon in Scottsdale, Arizona. “Showcasing these young players on one of America’s premier golf courses --  that has featured so many of the game’s top professionals -- will make these Championships a highlight of the summer.”

“Cog Hill Golf and Country Club is thrilled to be named the host for the 2022 Junior PGA Championships,” Cog Hill President Katherine Jemsek said. “Welcoming both the Boys and Girls Championships simultaneously fits precisely into Cog Hill's mission to provide access, entertainment and improvement opportunities to all golfers. We're looking forward to seeing all of the golfers and their supporters next summer!”

Earlier this month, the top boys junior golfers competed in the 2021 Boys Junior PGA Championship held at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Kentucky, with Caleb Surratt of Indian Trail, North Carolina, earning the victory. Meanwhile, Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville will host the 2021 Girls Junior PGA Championship, July 27-30.

Last summer, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both the 2020 Boys and Girls Junior PGA Championships were canceled. Despite the cancellations, all 41 PGA Sections had an opportunity to direct their own Section Boys and Girls Junior PGA Championships.
