(GLENVIEW, Ill.) – Peter Millar has extended its designation as the Official Premium Apparel Brand of the Western Golf Association and Evans Scholars Foundation, organization leaders announced today.
Known for sophisticated casual attire and innovative performance sportswear, Peter Millar became an Official Supporter of WGA and ESF in 2018. As part of a new three-year extension, the luxury brand will fund a second full Evans Scholarship to provide an opportunity for deserving young caddies to attend college. Peter Millar apparel will also be featured at WGA tournaments and Evans Scholars events through 2023.
This special designation will increase Peter Millar’s presence at WGA tournaments and solidify its ability to establish a direct business relationship with WGA and ESF constituents.
Since 1930, the Evans Scholars Program, one of golf’s leading charities, has sent more than 12,300 caddies from limited financial means to college on full tuition and housing scholarships. Currently, a record 1,045 Evans Scholars are attending 19 leading universities nationwide.
Leaders have released a new strategic plan organized around eight key ambitions to be achieved by 2030, the 100-year anniversary of the first two students receiving the Evans Scholarship in 1930. The goals include increasing the number of Evans Scholars in school and diversifying the mix of youth caddie opportunities. Growing corporate support will play an integral role in reaching those ambitions.
Peter Millar awarded its first Endowed Named Evans Scholarship in 2018 after becoming an Official Supporter. The first recipient was Valeria Zendejas, a graduate of the WGA Caddie Academy and one of three children born to immigrant parents. Valeria is now a junior studying psychology at Marquette University. As part of the extension, Peter Millar will fund the creation of a second Endowed Named Evans Scholarship that will be awarded every four years to an incoming freshman who meets preferences designated by Peter Millar.
Peter Millar has supported the WGA for more than a decade as the lead vendor for the BMW Championship, providing pro-am gifts and volunteer uniforms, along with being a featured vendor in the merchandise tent. Peter Millar’s support has expanded in recent years to include the Evans Scholars Invitational on the Korn Ferry Tour as well as the Western Junior and Western Amateur.
“Peter Millar has shown an unwavering commitment to supporting our dual missions of conducting world-class golf championships and changing lives by awarding college scholarships,” said WGA President & CEO John Kaczkowski. “By establishing a second Endowed Named Scholarship, Peter Millar is providing another opportunity for a promising young student to attend college. As the Evans Scholars Program expands nationwide, we look forward to collaborating with Peter Millar to identify new opportunities for their brand.”
“The mission of the WGA/ESF has long been one that Peter Millar has admired and supported. Caddies are one of the most important foundations and traditions of the game,” says Todd Martin, President Peter Millar Golf. “So many of the member clubs are wonderful partners to Peter Millar. Over the last 10 years, our WGA/ESF partnership has grown every year through the championships, especially the BMW Championship. Without question, we are by far the most proud that our company will be able to have a life altering impact for a young man or woman by providing them a four-year education through this Peter Millar Endowed Scholarship.”
