The Road Back: Helping Members Work Off Quarantine Fatigue at The Club at Keowee Key

The Club at Keowee Key in Salem, S.C. likes to hold big events each quarter, according to Fitness Director Brian Coker, to encourage members to actively experience the full benefits offered by the community and property. Neither the pandemic nor Tropical Storm Zeta could stop the staff from expanding previous triathlon events to hold two races this year—combining swimming, stationary bike rides and distance runs—that gave members extra opportunities to break out of COVID confinement. In this episode, Coker and Program Manager Ashley Lane—who created an eight-week training regimen to help participants prepare for the race—describe how the triathlons were planned and executed safely, and how momentum has been built for even bigger versions in coming years.
