(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – PGA National Resort & Spa – South Florida’s world-class golf, vacation, meetings and spa destination – announces it will host the GOLF Channel Am Tour National Championships on Sept. 17 – 26.

The GOLF Channel Am Tour National Championships are a culmination of a year of 700 qualifying tournaments with more than 6,000 amateur golfers of all ages and skill levels competing in an authentic tour-quality experience on top U.S. courses. The Open National Championship at PGA National will be held Sept. 17 – 20. The Senior National Championship for ages 55 and higher will take place on Sept. 23 – 26.

The participants of both divisions will play four of the legendary South Florida destination’s five acclaimed  layouts: The Champion, The Palmer, The Fazio and The Squire. The celebrated Jack Nicklaus-designed Champion Course is the annual host of the PGA TOUR’s Honda Classic and former Ryder Cup venue.

The Champion underwent a recent renovation and reopened in late 2018 to rave reviews. The challenging layout is perhaps best known for its renowned “Bear Trap” – a series of three demanding holes many considered the toughest stretch in the game. The resort’s superb Palmer Course reopened in late 2017 after undergoing its own lauded renovation.

The format for both the Open and Senior division championships is a 72-hole, individual stroke-play competition with no cut. Twelve competitors in six flights – six from the Senior division and six from the Open division – will be crowned national champions in official awards ceremonies immediately following the conclusion of the respective tournaments.

Competitors will additionally have the opportunity to meet several NBC Sports / GOLF Channel on-air personalities including Rich Lerner, Lauren Thompson and Alexandra O’Laughlin.
