(Trinity, TX) – Twenty countries are set to compete in the 2019 Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club on November 7-9. Each participating country will send its two best male and two best female amateur golfers in the quest to take home prestigious gold medals.
The competing countries are: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
The Spirit International is a biennial event that was established in 2001 at Whispering Pines.
It is an Olympic-like experience that includes an opening ceremony, festive dinner parties and a closing ceremony. Camp Olympia, located adjacent to Whispering Pines and recognized as one of the premier summer camps in the U.S., provides International Village accommodations for the 80 competitors.
“We are proud of the success we’ve had to date in bringing the world’s top women and men
to compete for their countries at the No. 1 rated golf course in Texas,” said Corby Robertson, Jr., the founder and owner of Whispering Pines Golf Club. “Our commitment is to promote global goodwill through the game of golf. The friendships made and memories shared among the participants make for an all-world experience. I believe The Spirit International has made an immeasurable impact on the global golfers, volunteers and sponsors who participate. We are looking forward to welcoming the team members and coaches to Texas.”
The 2017 Spirit International was canceled due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.
