Golf Channel Academy Places 13 Coaches on List of Golf Digest's 'Best Young Teachers'

(Orlando, Fla.) – A record 13 Golf Channel Academy coaches, including nine lead coaches, were among those selected to Golf Digest magazine’s sixth biennial listing of the “Best Young Teachers in America”.

“We’re elated that so many of our coaches have been recognized by Golf Digest in this prestigious list of young, top teaching talent,” said Lorin Anderson, VP Instruction, for Golf Channel. “Golf Channel Academy is all about assisting the best teachers in the game with growing their businesses and standing out in their communities, and to have so many of our younger coaches included on this esteemed list validates the quality of our coaches and the trajectory their careers are headed.”

The group of top instructors under the age of 40 was expanded to 114 for 2018-’19, and includes teachers from New York to California. Among the Golf Channel Academy (GCA) lead coaches to make the list were:
· Jeremy Anderson – Legacy Golf Performance Center, Phoenix, Ariz.
· Jason Birnbaum – Manhattan Woods Golf Academy, West Nyack, N.Y.
· Devan Bonebrake – Southern California Golf Academy, Carlsbad, Calif.
· Eujone (EJ) Kim – Axis Golf Academy & Fitness Center, Montgomery, Texas
· Sean Lanyi – Tri-Mountain Golf Course, Ridgefield, Wash.
· Anders Mattson – Saratoga National Golf Club, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
· Kyle Morris – The Golf Room, Dublin, Ohio
· Jason Sedan – Fore Door Golf, Lake Winnipesaukee G.C., New Durham, N.H.
· Scott Wickham – Avila Golf & Country Club, Tampa, Fla.

Birnbaum is making his fourth consecutive appearance on the list of up-and-coming instructors, which debuted in 2008 as the “Top-20 Teachers Under 40”. Bonebrake, Kim, Mattson, Morris and Sedan are making their second straight appearance while Anderson, Lanyi and Wickham are all new to the list.

The four GCA staff coaches named to the list include:
· Tommy Sharp – Golf Lab, Salt Lake City, Utah
· Kaylin Skovron – Jeff Isler Golf, Southlake, Texas
· Mark Walder – DiJulia Golf, New Hope, Pa.
· Tyrus York – High Performance Golf Academy, Lexington, Ky.

Sharp and Walder are making their first appearance on the list.

Golf Digest’s editors surveyed teachers from their state and national rankings and tour players to assemble their list. They also looked at each candidate’s accomplishments and student successes, and who they learned from. The selected nominees were then categorized into six regions: Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest and West.
