(BIWABIK, Minn.) – Giants Ridge – Minnesota’s leading golf resort set in the rugged beauty of the Mesabi Iron Range – has received a prestigious “Editors’ Choice Award” from Golf Digest in the “Best Golf Resorts in the Americas” category.
The acclaimed golf destination was the only Minnesota property to earn the coveted accolade. Now in its third year, the Golf Digest “Editors’ Choice Awards” annually honor the “best of the best” in 38 industry categories. The news is featured in the recently-released May issue.
“We’re thrilled Golf Digest recognizes the exceptional golf experience we provide,” says John Kendall, Director of Golf. “Our two distinct layouts offer 36 thrilling holes at an unbeatable value.”
Giants Ridge’s two championship courses – The Quarry and The Legend – rank among the top in the state. The aptly-named Quarry, built on the site of a former sand quarry and iron ore mine, has consistently earned a spot on Golf Digest’s bi-annual list of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” since 2005.
Additionally, The Quarry was recently rated the “Best Course You Can Play” in Minnesota by Golfweek. This is the fourth consecutive year the dramatic layout has earned the top spot.
Although both designed by renowned course architect Jeffrey Brauer, both The Quarry and The Legend have a unique layout and character. Dramatically raised tees and hazards forged from reclaimed and repurposed mine land set The Quarry apart from other courses. Carved out of the Superior National Forest, The Legend is a true “northwoods” course featuring towering pines, giant fairways and majestic views of Wynne and Sabin Lakes.
In addition to Golf Digest and Golfweek honors, Giants Ridge and its courses have received accolades from Golf Magazine, My Golf Spy, WorldGolf.com and Golf Advisor.
