(PEBBLE BEACH, CA) – Youth on Course - the non-profit organization providing rounds of golf for $5 or less, scholarships and caddie programs for youth – has joined forces with the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) to extend key initiatives in the Pacific Northwest.
Washington joins Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Arizona as states to embrace Youth on Course platforms that provide access to golf for kids ages 6-18. Born in Northern California, YOC has grown to include nearly 15,000 members who have access to unlimited affordable golf.
“We want to have a deeper impact on the junior golf population of Washington, and seeing the success that Youth on Course is having across the western United States, it’s obvious that the program is a game-changer for the industry,” says WSGA CEO/Executive Director Troy Andrew. “Growing the game and diversifying its participants have always been goals of the association, and YOC is a perfect fit for helping us achieve both objectives.”
Through the subsidizing of greens fees, Youth on Course enables juniors to play golf for $5 or less at hundreds of courses, eliminating the financial barrier that might prohibit them from enjoying the game. The organization also provides opportunities for meaningful employment through paid high school internships and caddie positions. Additionally, $282,000 in college scholarships were awarded to 50 deserving members in the past year – part of an ongoing mission to provide educational support.
“We’re excited to partner with the Washington State Golf Association and the thousands of young golfers they serve,” says Youth on Course Executive Director Adam Heieck. “We hope it can be a vehicle for continuing to increase accessibility and affordability throughout the Pacific Northwest.”
