Potomac Shores Golf Club Named Among 'Best New Courses' by Golf Digest

Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Northern Virginia Receives National Recognition

(Potomac Shores, Va.) – Potomac Shores Golf Club, the first publically accessible Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in the Washington, D.C. metro region, has been honored by Golf Digest as one of the “Best New Courses” in the nation for 2014.  Potomac Shores opened in May 2014.

Playing at 7,020 yards from the back tees, Potomac Shores’ par-72 layout was described by Golf Digest as “a roller coaster routing on river bluffs.”  Located in Potomac Shores, Va., just 30 minutes south of downtown Washington, D.C., Potomac Shores Golf Club is a centerpiece for the 1,920-acre Potomac Shores master-planned community being developed by SunCal along the Potomac River in Prince William County.  SunCal is one of the largest real estate development companies in the U.S. that specializes in large-scale, mixed-use master-planned communities.

“SunCal is dedicated to creating distinctive communities that are not only great places to live but also amazing places to play,” said David Cecchele, SunCal senior vice president/director of operations, East Coast. “It is extremely pleasing that Potomac Shores Golf Club has been honored as one of the ‘Best New Courses’ in the nation. This supports what our vision has been for this course - to provide a recreational amenity that is truly world class for our Potomac Shores residents and golfing guests.”

“We knew that the opening of Potomac Shores would make waves this year upon opening,” said Matt Hurley, vice president of operations for Troon, the management company for Potomac Shores Golf Club. “To be recognized by Golf Digest as one of the ‘Best New Courses’ in the country is a testament to the dedication and commitment the entire Potomac Shores team has had to open and maintain what is truly a special course.”
