GolfNow’s Philanthropic “Round-Up” Campaign Uses Technology to Further Educational Opportunities for Military Families
(ORLANDO, Fla.) – NBC Sports Next, the technology and innovation division of NBC Sports, today launches a new “round-up” campaign through its GolfNow brand to raise funds for the Folds of Honor military charity.
The GolfNow “round-up” campaign will be conducted through Memorial Day and encourages anyone booking a tee time through its website and app to contribute to the philanthropic effort. GolfNow is enlisting its “round-up” technology to generate the funds, which will be used by Folds of Honor to help further educational opportunities for the spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members.
“We’re honored to have the opportunity to salute America’s military families through this partnership with Folds of Honor,” said Jerramy Hainline, SVP & GM, Golf, NBC Sports Next. “We’re also proud to associate the GolfNow brand and want to encourage – as well as say thank you – to everyone who will decide to contribute and make a positive change in so many people’s lives.”
GolfNow operates the largest online tee-time marketplace in golf and is the industry’s leading provider of golf course operations software and services to more than 9,000 courses worldwide. Anyone booking tee times on GolfNow through May 31 will be provided the opportunity to round up the total cost of the reservation to an even-dollar figure. For example, if the cost of a tee time totals $34.65, the golfer can elect to round up the cost to $35, donating the additional $0.35 to Folds of Honor.
The campaign will be promoted across a variety of NBC Sports platforms, both on-air and online, as well as social media spotlights of service members. Folds of Honor will support the campaign to its constituents around the U.S. and through appearances by its founder and CEO Lt. Col. Dan Rooney.
“We are grateful to GolfNow and the entire NBC family for its support of Folds of Honor, Patriot Golf Days and the military families that we serve,” said Rooney. “GolfNow has made a commitment to make a life-changing difference for those that sacrifice so much and defend our freedom.” Patriot Golf Days, held over Memorial Day weekend, provides funding in support of Veterans and military families. Since its inception, the grassroots effort has provided over 12,000 academic scholarships and raised nearly $60 million.
This effort on behalf of Folds of Honor is a part of NBC Sports Next’s Better Together community impact initiative. Similar round-up campaigns on GolfNow have helped raise funds for Youth on Course and the non-profit organizations aided by the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative. The ongoing campaign for Youth on Course has raised more than $1.5 million since December 2020.
