(LIBERTY CORNER, N.J.) – The United States Golf Association (USGA) announces the launch of the 2019 U.S. Open Trophy Tour presented by Lexus, which was introduced at a San Francisco area media event on April 8. That stop was the first of more than two dozen on the tour before the trophy arrives at Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links for the 119th U.S. Open Championship on June 13-16.
Now in its sixth year, the tour will provide fans across Northern California a chance to see the iconic trophy, with stops at well-known attractions including the Pebble Beach Food & Wine event, the Alaska Airlines Bay to Breakers footrace, and a San Francisco Giants game. Other stops include local Lexus dealers and the Track to Tee Driving Experience at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, Calif.
“We are looking forward to our return to Pebble Beach, especially during the course’s centennial year,” said John Bodenhamer, senior managing director of USGA Championships. “Lexus has been an incredible partner for the last 13 years, including their support of the U.S. Open Trophy Tour over the last six, and we’re thrilled for the opportunity to bring our trophy directly to fans in Northern California leading into the U.S. Open this June.”
Making its way across the Bay Area in a 2019 Lexus LX, the Trophy Tour provides fans with photo opportunities as well as a chance to take home personalized giveaways. Fans will also have the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime experience of two hospitality-suite tickets to Saturday and Sunday of this year’s championship at Pebble Beach in the “Ultimate U.S. Open Sweepstakes.”
“The U.S. Open Trophy is one of the most prized awards in sports, and the 2019 Lexus LX is the perfect mode of transportation for its tour across the Bay Area,” said Steve Jett, national manager of motor shows and lifestyle marketing at Lexus. “We’re excited to enhance the golf fan experience beyond the course by driving the trophy to popular locations on its way to Pebble Beach, one of the most beautiful and historic venues in golf.”
