(NEW YORK) – Las Vegas is once again set to play host as some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment gather April 18-21, 2018 for two days of competitive golf and special events at the 2018 Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational (DJCI). The highly anticipated golf tournament will take place at Shadow Creek, one of the world’s most exclusive golf courses. AAA Five Diamond Award-winning ARIA Resort & Casino will provide hospitality for guests and also serve as host of the event’s evening celebrations.
Since its launch in Las Vegas in 2015, the DJCI has contributed more than $3 million to the Turn 2 Foundation. In partnership with JP Sports + Entertainment, ICON International, Turner and ARIA, the event is slated to return to Las Vegas again in 2019.
“Since its launch in Las Vegas nearly four years ago, this event has contributed invaluable funds to the Turn 2 Foundation that have enabled us to positively impact the lives of so many young people,” said Derek Jeter. “The commitment of our partners, sponsors, supporters and friends is what drives the tremendous success of the Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational year after year, and I am so grateful for the continued support.”
This year’s DJCI will kick off Wednesday, April 18, with a private welcome reception at ARIA. The two-round Celebrity-Amateur tournament, which pairs one celebrity with four amateur participants, will begin Thursday, April 19 at Shadow Creek, and will conclude Friday, April 20. On Thursday evening, the signature DJCI Gala at ARIA will feature a live musical performance and an exclusive silent auction displaying one-of-a-kind memorabilia and experiences.
Previous DJCI guests include: Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Ken Griffey, Jr., Cal Ripken, Jr., Russell Wilson, Mike Piazza, Jorge Posada, Rob Riggle, Brandi Chastain and Jerome Bettis, among others, along with unforgettable performances by T.I., Ludacris and Flo Rida.
Current Miami Marlins owner and former New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter established the Turn 2 Foundation during his rookie year with the Yankees. Since its launch in 1996, Turn 2 has worked to help young people reach their full potential by creating and supporting initiatives that promote leadership development, academic achievement, positive behavior, healthy lifestyles and social change.
