GolfGulfShores.com (AL) Launches New Tee-Time-Booking System

Upcoming After-Golf Events include Hangout Music Fest, Set for May 18-20

(GULF SHORES, ALABAMA) – The Gulf Shores Golf Association – a partnership of nine courses on Alabama’s Gulf Coast – has launched a new tee-time-booking system on the www.golf.gulfshores.com website.

“Our website has always been user-friendly and this new tee-time booking system makes it even easier for those who may already have lodging arranged for their trip to Gulf Shores/Orange beach,” says Duncan Millar, Golf Gulf Shores Executive Director.

The system enhances directly booking tee times at any or all nine courses, and will eventually be available on mobile devices. Each course is listed with an overview, photos and a tee-time-rates calendar at http://search.guestdesk.com/reservations/GulfShoresGolfAssociation/

Kiva Dunes Ranks No. 1; Hosts State Amateur in June

Kiva Dunes Golf Club is rated Alabama’s No. 1 public course in Golfweek magazine’s “2012 America’s Best Courses You Can Play,” published in the March 9, 2012 print edition and online at www.golfweek.com.

Designed by former U.S. Open Champion Jerry Pate, the course is built on terrain between two bodies of water, where sandy soil, prevailing breezes and Pate’s inspired design combine for a scenic, challenging test of golf.

Golfweek’s rankings rate strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety and memorability of holes, conditioning, maintenance, landscape management and other criteria. Golfweek sends approximately 400 "America's Best" raters in search of the country's finest golf courses. Those raters submit ballots grading on a 10-point scale and the scores for each course are averaged to get the overall rating.

Kiva Dunes will host the 96th Alabama Men’s State Amateur Championship, June 7-10, 2012.  Entries are accepted until April 26. Smylie Kaufman is the reigning champion, winning last year’s title at FarmLinks Golf Club.
