The Traveling Golfer Visits French Lick Resort

Indiana's Famous French Lick Resort Featured in August Episode of Traveling Golfer

(PHILADELPHIA, Pa.) - Dating all the way back to 1845, French Lick Resort has been a revered Midwest haven for vacationers. Today it is a charming blend of the nostalgic past and the luxurious present.

An overview of its two historic hotels, the modern casino, two championship golf courses and a quaint family friendly nine-hole golf course will be provided for viewers in the August episode of the award-winning Traveling Golfer television show.

Much of French Lick's rich golf history - including hosting the 1924 PGA Championship on its Donald Ross-designed course - will be explored on the August episode of the Traveling Golfer. In addition, some of the newest events in golf history -- such as the PGA Professional National Championship, the 2015 Sr. PGA Championship and the LPGA Legends tournaments on the new Pete Dye-designed course - will be unveiled.

"We are very proud of our golf history here at French Lick," said Dave Harner, director of golf operations at French Lick. "We go all the way back to the Walter Hagen era and his PGA Championship win, and we continue to create new history. That is the goal at this property, to be an integral part of the history-making process."

In producing the latest Traveling Golfer show, many hours of footage was shot on the golf courses, in the hotels and around the casino. But some of the most engaging segments come from scenes in the quaint town of French Lick. Known nationally as the hometown of basketball legend Larry Bird, Traveling Golfer host Tony Leodora even conducted an interview with Bird's high school basketball coach.

"The entire show is a composite of one great scene after another," commented Leodora. "But the portions from the town of French Lick proved to be a real step back in time. Contrast that with the pure luxury that exists in the historic French Lick and West Baden Hotels and it is easy to see why this will be one of our most memorable shows of the year."

The episode from French Lick Resort begins airing August 1 and runs throughout the month on the Traveling Golfer network of websites ... including The Golf Director Network (see full list of sites on travelinggolfervideo.com). It also will air on Monday, August 8 as part of the Press Box television show in Myrtle Beach, 5 to 7 p.m. on HTC Ch. 4.

The Traveling Golfer also airs as a scheduled weekly feature show on Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Comcast SportsNet airings are 10:30 a.m. Sundays and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays. The Comcast Network airs the show at 6 p.m. Mondays and Fridays.

As part of every Traveling Golfer show there is the additional feature, "Tech Talk", hosted by Tour Edge Golf President Dave Glod. With years of experience as a clubmaker, Glod presents an inside look at the research and development of high-quality golf equipment.

Responding to golfers' never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the Traveling Golfer so he could take viewers on video trips to some of the most exciting golf locations. The show won first place for golf television broadcasts in the prestigious International Network of Golf Awards, presented at the PGA Merchandise Show in January.

The Traveling Golfer is a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 16 years of experience in televised golf. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. The old shows are archived for continued viewing on home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
