Highly Sought PGA Professional at the Triangle’s Premier Private Golf Course
(DURHAM, N.C.) - Old Chatham Golf Club, the Triangle’s top-ranked private golf club, has announced the promotion of Brian Rigsby to Head Golf Professional. Rigsby started as an Assistant Golf Professional at Old Chatham in 2011, after 15 years at various high-end private golf facilities in South Florida.
“Brian is an extraordinarily talented and hard working young man. Everything - the tournaments, pro shop, staff management - is run with a quiet efficiency and professionalism by him and we are very lucky to have him. He’s one of those rarities in the golf world, whereas he is one of the best there are, yet he retains a humility and service-orientated attitude that help make him invaluable,” said Lew Ebert, North Carolina Chamber of Commerce President and Old Chatham Board Member.
Golf has been a lifelong passion for Rigsby, who became a devoted player at age six. He was competing in professional tournaments by age 19 and became a Class A Member of the PGA in 2007.
“Brian is a gem amongst professionals within the golf industry,” said Old Chatham Director of Operations John Marino. “With his 15 years of extensive golf knowledge and PGA experience, he will be a quite an asset to our professional staff.”
It was in Florida at The Club at Renaissance where he met two mentors that would shape his core beliefs in the golf industry. Rigsby credits PGA Life Member Bill Cox with instilling a passion for teaching, belief in open communication and caring for people. David Kent, PGA, taught Rigsby to create a culture where the staff feel respected and valuable - everyone on the same mission to create the best experience possible for members and guests.
“It’s a privilege to be selected as the Head Golf Professional of Old Chatham,” Rigsby said. “I am excited about continuing my work with John Marino and the entire Old Chatham family, always striving to make the club one of the best in the country.”
Rigsby is responsible for a professional staff of First Assistant Golf Professional Philip DesRoches and three Assistants, an outdoor staff of 16 and 30 golf caddies. He dedicates his time to overseeing the day-to-day golf operation, creating custom tournaments tailored to the culture of the club and providing individualized instruction to its members. In addition, he prides himself on improving the Old Chatham golfing experience by exceeding all members’ needs and delivering an unmatched standard of service.
