(Scottsdale, Ariz.) – Red Ledges in Heber City, Utah was recently recognized as having one of the top “2016 Clubhouses of the Year” by Golf Inc. Magazine. Red Ledges, a Troon Privé managed club, placed third among all private club new clubhouses honored by Golf Inc. All clubhouses that opened or reopened in 2015 were eligible for the Golf Inc. competition.
“To be named one of Golf Inc.’s top ‘Clubhouses of the Year’ is a tremendous honor,” said John Johnson, club general manager, Red Ledges. “We can’t thank the architects at Z Design Group, the interior designers at Alder & Tweed and the contractor Wadman Corp. enough for their outstanding efforts put forth at Red Ledges. The clubhouse is spectacular and is being enjoyed by members and guests alike.”
The 15,300 square-foot, two-story clubhouse features fine dining in the Juniper Grill, a sports shop, luxurious locker rooms, and relaxing patios offering great views of Mount Timpanogos. Z Design Group sought to make a strong connection with the outdoors by incorporating expansive glass windows, patios and stepped terraces with a fire pit integrated into the natural landscape. While Wadman Corp. sourced local materials – heavy timber columns, beams and trusses, locally quarried red sandstone and milled cedar wood for siding and roofing. The result is a western-ranch and mountain-style clubhouse that epitomizes rustic elegance.
“The clubhouse is rugged and muscular, much like its mountain-terrain surroundings,” commented Mark Melzer, Golf Inc. Clubhouse of the Year judge and principal with Melzer, Deckert and Ruder Architects. “The use of natural materials and cascading roof forms blend architecture and distant mountain peaks.”
Golf Inc. Magazine annually recognizes top public and private new and remodeled clubhouses. In the July/August issue of the industry publication, two new public clubhouses, four new private clubhouses and three remodeled clubhouses were honored as top “Clubhouses of the Year.”
