Jimmy Walker Presented with OMEGA Timepiece to Celebrate Win at 98th PGA Championship

(SPRINGFIELD, N.J.) – After winning by one-stroke for a -14, 266 total, Jimmy Walker was presented with the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf” Master Co-Axial timepiece to commemorate his win at the 98th PGA Championship, which concluded Sunday evening at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.

With his one-shot victory, Walker joins Danny Willett, Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson as first-time Major winners this season. Walker held off a late charge by Australian Jason Day, who finished his final round by eagling the 554-yard 18th hole, leaving Walker with a slim, one-stroke lead. Needing to par the final hole for his first Major championship, Walker sank his fifth stroke, a short three-foot putt, to hoist the Wanamaker Trophy.

Following the Wanamaker Trophy presentation, the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra timepiece was presented to Walker by PGA of America President Derek Sprague at a private ceremony in the clubhouse.

“In our sixth year as a partner and Official Timekeeper of the PGA of America, we are pleased to present this exceptional timepiece to Jimmy Walker after his thrilling win at the 2016 PGA Championship,” said Raynald Aeschlimann, OMEGA President and CEO. “We congratulate Jimmy on his outstanding play at Baltusrol and are proud that this OMEGA timepiece can serve to commemorate his first PGA Championship – and first Major – win.”

OMEGA created the Seamaster Aqua Terra "Golf" wristwatch to celebrate its expanded presence in the world of golf. With its green transferred "Seamaster" name and the numbers on the minute track, it recalls the verdant courses where golf's great events are contested. The central seconds hand is also distinguished by a green tip.  The timepiece is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8500 movement.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on OMEGA – and the sport of golf – next week at the 2016 Rio Olympics where OMEGA will serve as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games for the 27th time.  OMEGA’s support of golf’s return to the Olympic Games underscores the brand’s commitment to the game of golf and its role as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games.

Then, in the fall, OMEGA will serve as Official Timekeeper of the Ryder Cup for the second time. The tournament, which is one of the most popular and hotly anticipated events on the golfing calendar, is a competition between teams from Europe and the United States contested every two years, alternating between American and European courses. It will be held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., from Sept. 27 – Oct. 2, 2016.

The 99th PGA Championship, where OMEGA will again be on hand as Official Timekeeper, is set for Aug. 7-13, 2017 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C.
