PGA Catalunya Resort appoints new CEO

(Girona, Spain) - Award-winning  PGA Catalunya Resort, the 2015 European Golf Resort of the Year* and Spain’s official candidate host venue for The 2022 Ryder Cup, has appointed David Plana as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

David Plana
David is no stranger to PGA Catalunya Resort, having been Corporate Director of The European Tour Destination for nearly eight years.

Prior to joining PGA Catalunya Resort, David held roles at Arthur Andersen, Trety, an automotive specialist and beverage company, Rémy Cointreau. He also has a degree in International Business, Trade and Commerce from Oxford Brookes University in the UK.

Commenting on his appointment, David Plana said: “I’m extremely proud to be leading the team at PGA Catalunya Resort and I will continue to work very closely with my colleagues to realise our growth plans over the coming years.

“PGA Catalunya Resort is already regarded as one of Europe’s finest integrated golf and residential destinations, and our plans are to continue to invest and further enhance the facilities to ensure every visitor and property owner receives an exclusive, friendly and truly five-star customer experience.”

To underline its commitment to invest, PGA Catalunya Resort has recently completed a full upgrade of its golf practice facilities, giving it the capacity to accommodate up to 130 golfers on its range, supported by a 2,000 sq metre short game area, the largest in Spain.

PGA Catalunya Resort boasts two highly acclaimed 18-hole golf courses, the Tour and Stadium, the latter ranked as Spain’s No.1 by influential golf course ratings website, www.top100golfcourses.co.uk. The Stadium Course has hosted The Open de España on three occassions, and both courses have been home to European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage events since 2008.
