Keswick Hall’s Full Cry Debuts at No. 47 in Golfweek’s ‘Best Resort Courses’
It’s a rarity for a new course in its first year of operation to enter the top 50 of this coveted annual ranking. Full Cry joins esteemed courses like Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pacific Dunes, Harbour Town Golf Links, Ocean Course at Kiawah Island and Pinehurst No. 2 in the upper half of the 100 layouts selected.
Full Cry – a hunting term describing the call of hounds that have found the scent and are in hot pursuit of their mark – is the destination’s signature amenity. Resting at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the superb layout traverses the rolling terrain below the elegant 48-room mansion inn perched on the property’s high ground.
The Golfweek distinction is the second major honor Keswick Hall and Golf Club has garnered in less than a year. In Feb., the resort received the Forbes Five-Star Award for its exceptional level of luxury and service.
“We’re flattered that Full Cry is being acclaimed as one of the premier resort golf courses in the country,” says Keswick Hall and Golf Club Chairman, Robert Hardie. “Our goal was to create a special Pete Dye experience for our members and guests and we’re thrilled the result is so highly praised.”
“We’re honored to be ranked so high in Golfweek’s ‘Best Resort Courses’ list right out of the starting gate,” says Greg Sligh, President and Managing Director of Keswick Hall. “When combined with our recent Forbes Five-Star Award, this recognition places us as one of the preeminent resort destinations in the U.S.”
Ideal to enjoy playing golf in the area Thomas Jefferson once described as the “Eden of the U.S.,” the Pete Dye Golf Package starts at $319 (Monday – Thurs.). It includes a one-night stay at Keswick Hall, one round on Full Cry (plus complimentary replay), and “Grab and Go” breakfast. Perfect for a couple’s getaway, a second golfer may be added for $75.
The region is home to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the University of Virginia and numerous outdoor pursuits, drawing history buffs, wine lovers, sports enthusiasts and nature seekers year-round. Keswick Hall features newly refreshed upscale accommodations, spa services, fine dining at Fossett’s, and myriad amenities. Highly decorated, it has attained Condé Nast Traveler “gold” status, and is one of Travel + Leisure’s 500 “World’s Best Hotels.”
