Tom Watson Is Impressed With New Golf Movie 'The Squeeze'

(LOS ANGELES, CA) - The new golf thriller movie, THE SQUEEZE, has already been getting rave reviews from the experts and critics. Professional golfers have also been wowed over how authentic the golf portion is in the movie that was directed and written by Terry Jastrow.

One recent viewer was eight-time Major winner Tom Watson. "THE SQUEEZE depicts actors who are truly believable as pro quality golfers," says Watson. "Director Jastrow's true understanding of the game -- with 22 years directing sports -- injects reality into the scenes with a stream of golf humor that golfers will find both familiar and believable, which are sadly lacking in all previous golf movies."

The film stars Jeremy Sumpter (Friday Night Lights, Peter Pan), Christopher McDonald ("Shooter McGavin" in Happy Gilmore), Katherine LaNasa (The Campaign), Jillian Murray (Bad Ass), Michael Nouri (Taken Away), and Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars). ARC Entertainment will release it on premium VOD and in select markets in 12 top U.S. markets on April 17, which is the Friday after The Masters.

THE SQUEEZE is a caper about a notorious gambler who discovers a modest young man in a small rural town with uncommon golf skills. Seeing his potential, the gambler convinces him to abandon his dreams of winning the U.S. Open and start playing in high-stakes matches. They don't lose. The stakes grow higher and higher until the game becomes life or death.

Jack Nicklaus and Phil Mickelson are among other golfers who have reviewed and enjoyed the movie.

"I watched THE SQUEEZE and really enjoyed it," said Jack Nicklaus, Winner of 18 Major Golf Championships.  "It's a fun movie that tells an interesting story, and the golf elements are so real you actually believe it could happen."

"THE SQUEEZE is a wonderful golf movie because it's so authentic," said Five Time Major Championship Winner, Phil Mickelson.  "It hooks you in the beginning and stays interesting and entertaining right to the end. I'm looking forward to seeing it again."

"It truly means a lot to have legends like Tom Watson compliment our efforts," says Jastrow. "It makes me feel like we did what we set out to do in making an authentic and original golf movie that was unlike anything ever seen before."

All of the enthusiastic commenters quoted in this post (a direct take from the press releases, by the way...) are either investors Watson) or current/past business partners of Terry Jastrow's (Nicklaus, Mickelson)
