Rodeo Dunes Takes Shape: Coore & Crenshaw’s Colorado Masterpiece Nears Completion

Michael Keiser is no stranger to building world-class golf destinations, and his latest venture is now taking form on the rolling sand hills of Colorado. The co-developer of Sand Valley in Wisconsin and son of Bandon Dunes founder Mike Keiser recently unveiled a preview of his newest Dream Golf project: Rodeo Dunes.

Located roughly 50 minutes northeast of Denver, Rodeo Dunes hosted its first day of preview play this week, giving golfers a glimpse of what’s to come. The debut course, designed by the renowned team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, features all 18 holes fully grassed, though early play was limited to 11 holes while the turf continues to mature. Even so, the preview offered a strong sense of the course’s character — a walking-only layout that flows naturally through undulating dunes and sandy terrain.

Fairways at Rodeo Dunes are generous yet strategic, rewarding thoughtful play and creative shotmaking. The opening par 4 sets the tone, with wide landing areas and deceptive bunkering that encourage players to find the right angles. As golfers move through the routing, the rolling dunes obscure much of the property, revealing dramatic views of the Rockies from elevated points.

The landscape surrounding Rodeo Dunes evokes comparisons to courses like Ballyneal in eastern Colorado and Nebraska’s celebrated Sand Hills and GrayBull. The major difference, however, is accessibility. Unlike those private clubs, Rodeo Dunes will welcome public play — and its proximity to Denver makes it a unique addition to the Dream Golf portfolio.

For now, preview play has concluded for the season. In 2026, the course will open primarily to its founding members, with a full public debut planned for 2027. Tee times for that inaugural season are expected to be available next spring.

Rodeo Dunes represents just the beginning for the property. Plans call for up to six courses on the site, with a second layout already routed by former Coore & Crenshaw shaper Jim Craig, marking his first solo design. If construction progresses as planned, that course could also see limited preview play by late next year.

Meanwhile, Dream Golf continues to expand its footprint beyond Colorado. In East Texas, Wild Spring Dunes — featuring a Tom Doak design — is nearing completion, with preview play anticipated in the near future.

From the Oregon coast to the Colorado plains and now into Texas, the Keiser family’s Dream Golf vision continues to grow, bringing minimalist, world-class golf experiences to more destinations across the country.
