Ooltewah, Tenn. Club Announces Limited Public Play, Renovations and Enhancements Under New Ownership and Club Management Team
(Ooltewah, Tn.) – The Champions Club, a private country club located in Ooltewah, Tenn. announces that the club is under a new ownership group and management team. Comprised of local businessmen and community stakeholders, Champions Club LLC has taken over ownership of the club. The new ownership group will make more than a million dollars of improvements to the golf course in the first year, focusing on greens and bunker renovations, as well as amenity upgrades that will enhance the member and guest experience at The Champions Club.
“As a homeowner on the golf course, I have a strong appreciation and love for The Champions Club and the surrounding community,” said Rick Stern, majority owner of The Champions Club. “I am thrilled to be a part of this next chapter for the club. It is our vision to make The Champions Club one of the best private golf clubs in Tennessee.”
In addition, The Champions Club has engaged the premier Atlanta-based club management company, Bobby Jones Links, to oversee management and day-to-day operations at the club. Bobby Jones Links’ employee-centric culture will cultivate a high-caliber level of service for members and guests of the club.
Renovations to The Champions Club golf course are being overseen by renowned golf course architect Bobby Cupp, Jr. Work will include renovating the golf course bunkers and greens on the front nine holes to match the greens on the back nine that were completed last summer. The Champions Club will remain open during renovations. Cupp will also oversee a complete renovation to several holes.
The construction team broke ground on the complete re-shaping and drainage renovation of the golf course bunkers on April 6 and is scheduled to tentatively complete this project by August of this year. Renovations to the front nine greens will begin in June and are scheduled to tentatively be completed by August of 2020. Additionally, membership programming at the club will be enhanced and new maintenance equipment will be purchased to elevate the course’s playability.
The Champions Club is also offering the unique opportunity for non-members to experience the Champion Club lifestyle. Beginning this month, non-members are invited to play the golf course for a limited time, while adhering to proper social distancing guidelines. Tee times can be made by calling the Golf Pro Shop at 423-238-6812.
“We are pleased to have The Champions Club join the Bobby Jones Links family,” said Steve Willy, Co-Founder of Bobby Jones Links. “Our primary focus now is on renovations and growth. These enhancements are a substantial step in the right direction, and we look forward to elevating the club for our members and guests.”
The Champions Club remains open during the Stay at Home executive order for the State of Tennessee. The club has adapted many operating procedures to keep members and guests safe, while also enforcing social distancing.
