Maulana Dotch Ladies Pro-Am Tournament Serves Dual Purpose

(RELEASE) - Women who want to grow the game of golf among women and girls will be taking part in The Maulana Dotch Ladies Pro-Am Invitational Golf Tournament October 10 at 7 a.m. The tournament will be at Cedar Crest Golf Course, 1800 Southerland Avenue, Dallas, TX 75203. All teams will be paired with female LPGA or PGA members. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program.

Maulana Dotch is the first African American woman in Texas and the second in America to earn her Class A, PGA Membership and become certified as a LPGA Teaching Professional.

"I am so committed about growing the game of golf among women, I decided to step down from the management position at Cedar Crest so I could concentrate on teaching women and girls to be great golfers," said Dotch. "This tournament not only supports a good cause, but will enable the lady players to get fantastic tips from the golf pros as they play in the tournament."

The tournament includes the following events:
* 7:00 a.m. - Breakfast
* 7:30 a.m. - Jr. Golfer One-on-One Rundown on Driving Range
* 8:30 a.m. - Shotgun Start
* 2:00 p.m. - Luncheon and Awards Ceremony

"Our junior golf girls are so talented, we thought it would be great to have them warm up our tourney players before the shotgun start with one-on-one mini-sessions on the driving range," explained Dotch.  "Some of our players may need to brush up on their game and what better way to inspire their game than with our young golf students."

In addition to teaching adults golf at Cedar Crest Golf Course, Ms. Dotch teaches girls the game of golf in the LPGA Girls Golf program.  The program also enhances the girls' self-esteem through empowerment, enrichment, encouragement and engagement skills.
