International Junior Golf Tour Announces Spring 2012 Schedule

Grand Cypress Resort Hosts Annual Bridgestone Golf Tournament of Champions

(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) – International Junior Golf Tour – one of the leading competitive circuits for elite golfers grades 5-12 – announced its spring 2012 schedule, including 25 events in 10 U.S. states.

Headquartered on Hilton Head Island, S.C., the IJGT offers over 60 two-and three-day events throughout the U.S. each year. IJGT members represent 45 U.S. states and 43 countries.

“The IJGT continues to solidify itself as one of the top junior golf tours in the world and each spring event will be nationally ranked by Golfweek, the American Junior Golf Association or Junior Golf Scoreboard,” says Peter Orrell, President and CEO of Junior Sports Corporation, which owns and operates the IJGT.

The Carolina Championship at Kiawah Island Resort (Feb. 18-19) will be held five months prior to the 2012 PGA Championship. Participants will have an opportunity to compete on the world-renowned Ocean and Turtle Point courses.

April 14-15, the IJGT will host The Battle at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Md. In 2008, Bulle Rock hosted the McDonald’s LPGA Championship, won by current world No.1 Yani Tseng.

The 2011-2012 season will come to a close Memorial Day weekend with the Bridgestone Golf Tournament of Champions, a three-day invitational at Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Fla.

IJGT alumni include Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan and Paula Creamer, as well as several other PGA and LPGA Tour players. The class of 2011 IJGT players play at several of the top NCAA Division I schools across the country including University of North Carolina, University of Arkansas, Indiana University, Southern Methodist University and others.
