(Scottsdale, Ariz.) - Troon, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that Lion Lake Country Club has been named among the "Top 10 Golf Clubs" in China and its Moon Course has been named among the country's "Top 10 Golf Courses" by Golf Digest China.
Located approximately 45 minutes northwest of Guangzhou, China - the country's largest golf market, Lion Lake Country Club currently has 27 holes open for play with magnificent clubhouse and driving range facilities. When fully complete, the property will feature 36 holes of championship golf, two five-star resorts and convention centers, yacht club, hot springs, cultural center, and a high-end residential community. Sheraton Hotels & Resorts will operate one of the luxurious resorts, which will feature 350 rooms and is scheduled to open late 2011.
"We are especially proud of the team at Lion Lake Country Club for being recognized by Golf Digest China," stated Ryan Walls, senior vice president and managing director of Troon Golf's Australia, Asia and Pacific division. "When we see the hard work from all those involved pay off, it gives a great sense of pride in what we have achieved. The levels of service and hospitality we provide to both our members and guests are essential in continuing to attract new golfers to the region. It's also a great compliment to the ownership and their commitment to quality, especially vice president John Ho who drives the golf and resort project."
The 18-hole Moon Course and nine-hole Moonlight Course at Lion Lake were designed by American golf course architect Rick Jacobson, whose designs have been highly acclaimed by Golf Digest and Golfweek magazines. The Moon Course at Lion Lake has also received awards from Golf Vacations and Golf Magazine. While both courses at Lion Lake represent two different styles, each course utilizes the area's natural surroundings and unique water features to bring them together in harmony.
Lion Lake currently features a new three-story, 160,000 square-foot Southern California-style clubhouse equipped with a golf shop, two restaurants specializing in Chinese and western cuisine, five private dining rooms, grand ballroom and a full-service spa. The facility also includes a 25,000 square-foot practice facility featuring the Troon Golf Academy.
