Most-Compelling Venue for Sport in U.S. Ideal for Summer Fun On and Off Acclaimed Golf Courses
(Branson, Missouri) – Not only is Branson and its 10 courses middle America’s finest golf destination, but it’s complementary array of after-golf places and activities make it a must-visit summer stop.

Further, traveling to Branson is convenient as it is within an 8-hour drive for 33 percent of the U.S. population. Those who prefer flying can choose between Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) – which has the most commercial airline choices – and Branson Airport (BKG), into which a significant number of private flights choose and to where some low-fare carrier routes arrive.
Five of Missouri’s Top 10-rated courses are in the Branson Golf destination, including the top four. Some of those are ranked among the country’s top 100 public courses by leading magazines.
Underscoring how good the golf is here, the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) will conduct a tournament at Buffalo Ridge Golf Course (Tom Fazio design), July 31-Aug. 3. The event will consist of three 18-hole rounds with 78 of the world's top junior golfers competing. The AJGA has an annual junior membership (boys and girls, ages 12-19) of more than 8,000 junior golfers from 50 states and 60 foreign countries.
Separating Branson from most golf destinations are the countless other leisure choices it offers. With dozens of restaurants, live entertainment theaters, three lakes, award-winning theme park (Silver Dollar City), and family friendly options at every turn, there’s something for everyone.
Branson also hosts numerous events and activities, including a week, Nov. 5-11 each year, for veterans. With patriotic tributes at live shows, moving memorials and an annual parade celebrating servicemen and women, Branson is ideal for veterans and their families.
Sports events – fishing competitions and baseball tournaments at Ballparks of America Branson to name a couple – are popular reasons people visit the destination. Pairing them with rounds of golf are win-win ways to enjoy vacations.
With the heat of summer in full blast, Branson has the perfect way to cool off after a sizzling round – you can jump in one of the three lakes or visit its many ice cream shops. There’s even Branson’s Frozen Treat Trail for ice cream lovers. Enjoy favorite frozen treats at numerous locations while receiving fun prizes for participating.
“Branson is coveted by repeat visitors for our wonderful golf courses, hotels, restaurants, shows, and ever-growing leisure activities and special events,” said Lynn Berry, Director of Communications, Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau.
