(Scottsdale, Ariz.) – Troon, the leader in golf course management, development, and marketing, has been selected to manage Belfair, a private golf club community in Bluffton, South Carolina. Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon, will manage the award-winning 36-hole facility as well as the community’s property owners association.
Approximately 1,100 acres in size, Belfair is located on the mainland in Bluffton, five miles from Hilton Head Island on Highway 278. The club features two championship golf courses designed by Tom Fazio that exemplify Lowcountry beauty. The West Course opened in 1996 with Links Magazine proclaiming it “…the finest set of golf holes in the Lowcountry, if not on the East Coast.” Belfair’s East Course opened in 1999 and is reminiscent of the links courses of Scotland while showcasing the area’s deep-water views, fresh water lakes and lagoons. Golfweek Magazine ranks both courses among the “Best Residential Courses” in the United States in their 2017 ranking.
“Belfair is a special place – the golf, the community and the amenities are all world class,” said Bruce Glasco, executive vice president and COO, Troon. “It’s one of the iconic clubs and communities of the East Coast. We are honored to be associated with such a wonderful club and look forward to working with the members of Belfair as we help enhance an already incredible property.”
In addition to golf, other amenities at Belfair include a world-class golf learning center, a beautiful clubhouse and a 9,200 sq. ft. state-of-the-art athletic center which includes two pools, tennis courts, certified personal training, spa services, a dog park and more. The club offers four dining options, including the 1811 Grille, Veranda Dining, The Oaks Dining Room and poolside dining at the athletic center. In addition to the existing amenities, members recently approved the addition of an outdoor dining area and lounge at the existing clubhouse, as well as the construction of a new multi-purpose facility with pools, fitness equipment, a cafe, and meeting space. Construction is expected to begin in early 2018.
“We elected to partner with Troon to accelerate our pace of being the premier choice for buyers in the Lowcountry and to significantly elevate our membership experience,” said Frank Farese, board president, Belfair Property Owners Association. “As the platinum management company in the industry, Troon is perfectly aligned with our vision to be the best. In a matter of days, Troon has assembled a tremendous leadership team and a visionary general manager who will distance Belfair from similar communities. Their vast array of resources is simply incredible."
The Troon Privé Division currently manages nearly 70 private clubs, half of which are member owned.
