(RELEASE) - Entering the final round with a one-shot lead, Nike Golf athlete Suzann Pettersen birdied two of her last three holes to win the Manulife LPGA Classic at Whistle Bear Golf Club. The victory marks the 15th on the LPGA Tour and the first since 2013 for the Norway native.
“I kept digging deep and finished strong,” Pettersen said. “I feel like I played some really good golf this week. It’s nice to be back.”
Pettersen relied on her Nike Golf equipment en route to a 22-under overall finish. She recorded two eagles and 21 birdies throughout the tournament, thanks in part to her Nike Vapor Pro Combo irons. These irons deliver the unique combination of more distance and control through an innovative Modern Muscle design. Modern Muscle is defined by balanced weighting for perfected precision and power.
Relying on her Nike Vapor Speed driver, Pettersen averaged 278 yards driving. The Vapor Speed driver blends three key technologies: Nike’s FlyBeam-reinforced Covert Cavity Back design, a reengineered Compression Channel and FlexLoft 2. All of these are vital to the golf athlete driven to maximize distance and consistency.
Pettersen utilized the Nike RZN Black golf ball with Speedlock RZN core technology. This innovative design features an interlocking core to promote better energy transfer between layers at impact for faster ball speed, longer distance and more stability into the wind.
She also sported apparel from Nike Golf’s performance collection and the Nike FI Impact 2 shoe, which will be available on nike.com on July 1.
