Inbee Park Wins Third Consecutive Major at 2013 US Women's Open
(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Cleveland Golf/Srixon congratulates staffer Inbee Park for winning the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open on Sunday at Sebonack Golf Club, in Southampton, NY. The victory was Park’s third consecutive major title, making her only the second woman in LPGA history – and the first in the modern era – to win the first three majors of the season. This was also Park’s sixth LPGA victory of 2013 and gives her season earnings of over $2.1 million, more than twice the nearest competitor.
Park started the event on Thursday with a 5-under par 67 to share second place, which marked the lowest position she would hold all week. She went on to lead the remainder of the event, finishing with an 8-under par 280 and a four-shot victory. On a course where only three players were able to finish under par for the week, Park finished with red numbers three out of four days and posted the lowest cumulative score since 2007.
Park will now have the opportunity to make history and achieve something that has never been done by any golfer, man or woman: win the modern Grand Slam. Next month, Park will go for her fourth major title of 2013 when she competes in the Ricoh Women’s British Open at The Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland.
Park currently plays the new Z-STAR with Spin Skin technology, which will be released this August. This new model of the Z-STAR has already earned more than 40 professional wins worldwide. Park also plays a XXIO 7 driver, XXIO Forged irons (5-PW) and Cleveland 588 wedges (47°, 51°, 56°). Park wears a Srixon glove and shoes, and carries a Srixon® bag.
