Yas Links Abu Dhabi Adds Asian Award to its Trophy Cabinet

(Yas Island, UAE) - Yas Links Abu Dhabi (www.yaslinks.com), the UAE’s newest, award-winning golf course, has been decorated with another accolade, receiving the prestigious Asian Golf Monthly ‘Best Course in the Middle East’ Award 2011.

This is the eleventh accolade for the UAE venue since opening last year – industry recognition has included a place in the acclaimed Golf World Top 100 Courses in the World rankings.

Chris White, General Manager of Aldar Properties (Golf Division), developer of Yas Links, said: “It is very humbling to be once again recognised as the Best Course in the Middle East – especially when you’re up against such strong contenders.

“Praise must go to the course architect, world-renowned Kyle Phillips, who designed such a unique and memorable course – his first project in the Middle East,” added Chris White. “At Yas Links, he has created a true masterpiece that continues to make headlines around the world as a must-play golf course.”
Runners-up in the Best Golf Course in the Middle East category were Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis Course and The National Course at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

Previously, the AGM Awards results have been based purely upon online votes of readers and subscribers of Asian Golf Monthly – the only global golfing title with an Asian perspective. For 2011, the views of a 24-strong panel of industry stalwarts, located around the region and with a vast knowledge of the golfing facilities within their respective geographic areas, accounted for 25 per cent of the overall voting.

Yas Links Abu Dhabi is exhibiting at this year’s International Gold Travel Market (IGTM) in Belek, Antalya, Turkey with Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
