Whistler Golf Club in British Columbia will close for a multi-year, $10-million renovation project, with plans to reopen in early summer 2027.
The final day of play for the public was Sept. 1. Renovations are being led by golf course architect Thad Layton, formerly of Arnold Palmer Course Design, and will include redesigned tee complexes for all skill levels, updated bunkers, realigned greens on holes 3 and 12 to improve sightlines and safety, and new cart paths to improve course flow.
Upgrades are also planned for the clubhouse and amenities. Palmers Restaurant will undergo a complete renovation, the clubhouse patio will be refreshed, and a new snack shack near the first hole will be added. Construction on these facilities is scheduled for spring 2026, pending permits.
Originally opened in 1983, the 42-year-old course is undergoing the upgrades to remain competitive and continue attracting golfers from around the world. The project is designed to enhance playability, safety, and overall guest experience.
During construction, the Whistler Driving Range, the Golf Club Retail Shop, and The SIM—an indoor golf simulator facility—will remain open on their usual seasonal schedules.
Golfers still have opportunities to play the course through Labour Day weekend, with tee times available online or by phone. In the meantime, Whistler and the surrounding corridor continue to offer a variety of golf options, including the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Nicklaus North, Big Sky in Pemberton, and Sunstone and Squamish Valley Golf Clubs further down the Sea-to-Sky.
