Shady Rest Country Club has been inducted into the National Black Golf Hall of Fame to honor its status as the first African American owned and operated country club in the U.S.
The country club has played host to historical icons such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Althea Gibson and is undergoing a rebirth via the Preserve Shady Rest organization.
Members of the Preserve Shady Rest Committee traveled to the Hall of Fame in Georgia to accept the induction.
