(RENENS, SWITZERLAND) - TPT Golf announced that the winner of the 2017 WGC - HSBC Champions at Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China this past weekend, was playing one of its shafts.
"Congratulations to the champion," said Sebastian Sebayang, director of TPT Golf. "Everyone at our company is very proud to see our shaft being played by one of the game's top stars, and golfers will see very soon more of our shafts in the hands of many more of the world's best players. This victory further validates that TPT Golf is setting new standards in shaft performance, using 'Thin Ply Technology' (TPT) carbon fiber materials and a patented manufacturing process developed by parent company North Thin Ply Technology SARL."
In capturing the tournament, the winner played TPT Golf model 15LKP-LT-LW, part of the 15 series. The 15LKP-LT-LW shaft will be available and launched at the 2018 PGA Merchandise Show. Shafts in this series are designed and engineered for the high clubhead/ball speed players seek in a premium shaft, to optimize their launch conditions. The 15 Series shafts are currently played by top PGA professionals, LPGA professionals and top amateurs everywhere. The LKP used by this tournament winner produces a slightly higher initial launch angle with more spin, while the MKP produces a lower, more penetrating trajectory with less backspin. Both models boost ball speed.
"Our patent-pending manufacturing process enables golf shafts to be made with exceptionally accurate fiber placement in a highly uniform way around the shaft," said Sebayang. "This method creates a spineless shaft and overcomes the inconsistencies sometimes seen in shafts produced by the more-traditional table rolling methods. TPT shafts provide exceptional feel, leading to tighter shot dispersion, low spin and increased distance. And for the first time ever, the company can design a shaft that starts with the physical capabilities of the human body and goes on to reflect the coaching being received in practice."
TPT can now provide the best-performing products for Tour pros and amateurs alike, bringing a consistent and precise product into the shaft marketplace. The range of TPT Golf shafts has been designed to make the fitting process as simple as possible. There are models to suit players with any swing speed.

Finding Youth Golf Equipment for the Holidays
Like anything else, there are varying degrees of quality when it comes to youth golf equipment. This shouldn’t have come as a surprise to me, considering I’ve played golf for almost 35 years and understand the “you get what you pay for” mantra.
Here’s another dilemma ... Many youth clubs are sold based on age. Think about any elementary school class. How many 6-year-old kids are the same height? A few, but then there are kids several inches taller and shorter. If your kid is tall, do you “age up” or stick with the recommendation?
When I was a kid, I started playing golf by hitting a couple clubs my grandfather had cut down for me. While my hand-eye coordination got better, the clubheads were way too heavy for a little fella like Junior Me.
These days, getting specially fitted for a set of irons or a new driver is all the rage. Technology has improved to the point that a weekend hacker can benefit from the same knowledge tour players use to their advantage. That’s great, but there’s a cost associated with that. Your kid is just starting. Their swing is going to change drastically as they grow.
Speaking of growing ... The kid is going to outgrow the clubs. Nothing you can do about that, but something you have to consider when spending the money.
Also, the wide range of ability will come into play. One youth set of clubs is not the same for every young golfer. An advanced player needs better clubs than someone who is just starting.
Lastly, whatever the cost, there’s a very distinct possibility that the child will lose interest and the clubs will just collect dust until you unload them in a garage sale or dump them on eBay.
I’ve painted a doom-and-gloom picture. Why bother getting your kid into golf? Because it’s the greatest game ever invented. That’s why.
Golf Galaxy has a range from $90 to $600. TGW.com seemed to have a similar range, though their search engine was a lot less clear.
Need a little more direction? Parents searching for an excellent golf company with which to begin need look no further than Precise Golf. At Precise, you can find clubs for the smallest of children, all the way up to adulthood. The junior clubs are broken down by age and/or height:
Ages 3-5 or 3’ to 3’8”
Ages 6-8 or 3’8” to 4’4”
Ages 9-12 or 4’4” to 5’
If your teen falls in love with the game, they can grow right into the men’s or women’s sets. Men’s come in regular, tall and left handed. Women’s are available in regular, tall, petite and left handed.
Precise Golf equipment is excellent in both selection and quality. I’ve taken full swings repeatedly and the clubs have held up. Try that with an inferior product and you’re back to the store looking for replacements in a hurry.
The Precise X7 (ages 6-8) junior set comes with a driver, hybrid, two irons and a putter. You also receive a stand bag and headcovers for the driver and hybrid. It is offered in both boys (red) and girls (pink). Pick up a sleeve of balls and bag of tees and you’re ready to play right out of the box.
Learn more about Precise Golf at www.precisegolf.com.
For the littlest golfers, Dick’s offers both Top Flite and Tour Edge sets. These border on novelty, but are plenty for the smallest kids. Both sets come with a high-lofted driver, mid-iron and putter, as well as a stand bag.
Shop for these HERE.
Voit also makes junior clubs, but they’ve become increasingly difficult to find. Amazon sells them, but in limited quantities. Our experience with Voit was mixed ... Good for the price, but not something that will stand up to rigorous use. I’d recommend these if your pre-teen shows a little interest in the game and you’re willing to burn a little cash. Considering they’ll be into adult clubs soon after, it would be wise to invest more money when/if the desire is real.
At this point, it’s not a reach to recommend Precise Golf. Your child can grow throughout the brand’s portfolio and be competitive every step of the way.
Whatever you choose, take the time to do your homework and expect a few hiccups along the way. If your child falls in love with the game, they’ll have a lifetime to enjoy God’s gift to sport.

FlingGolf is Growing the Game at Military Golf Courses
(BOSTON) – Military facilities around the world provide great options for recreation, fun and fitness for service members and their families at very affordable prices. Golf courses on military bases provide one of the best recreational values of all.
Most military courses include everything a golfer needs: equipment rental, a driving range, putting greens, pro shop, and lessons. Military courses have to be self-sustaining and with the number of rounds declining, many courses are now offering FlingGolf as a way to increase play, recreation and revenue.
FlingGolf is a dynamic new sport where players fling a golf ball off the tee and down the fairway with a lacrosse-type FlingStick. It’s fun, inexpensive, non-intimidating and easy to learn making it an ideal game for active military personnel and their family members.
As former Commanding Officer of the Jacksonville Naval Air Station, Rear Admiral (Ret.) Mark Boensel became an expert on fulfilling soldiers’ health, welfare and recreation needs. Boensel serves on FlingGolf’s Advisory Board and has been instrumental in introducing the benefits of FlingGolf to the military.
“Rounds are down at our military courses and we need to fill them,” said Boensel. “There are no downsides to FlingGolf – it’s affordable, easy to learn, requires no modifications, doesn’t tear up the course, and provides an entree to conventional golf. It’s a great way to infuse energy back into the game.”
FlingGolf uses a lightweight, durable carbon fiber stick with a “head” or basket designed with a channel to hold the golf ball. There are three basic swing techniques: Sidearm/Baseball, Overhand/Lacrosse and Flop shot. On the green, putting becomes a pushing stroke with the ball nestled into the notch on the side of the FlingStick head and one hand down the shaft.
“The military is looking to get young service members outdoors and active while on break, away from their video games, smart phones and other electronics,” continued Boensel. “With FlingGolf, you only need one stick that weighs less than a pound – even on board a ship a sailor can find a place to put it.”
A standard FlingGolf shot will travel 150-200 yards or more and par on a course is the same as par for traditional golf. If the ball lands in a bunker or water hazard or out-of-bounds, a FlingGolfer must take a one-stroke penalty. The ball is put back in play by removing the ball from the bunker or hazard along the line of flight and taking the next shot. FlingGolfers learn the basics of the game and the rules without the expense and learning curve that comes with traditional golf.
Jon Fine, PGA Professional and Golf Course Manager at Windy Harbor Golf Club at Mayport Naval Station in Mayport, Fla., recently ordered Flingsticks.
“We are introducing FlingGolf in our Sports Challenge Cup competition this month – a quarterly event that involves 30-50 active-duty participants,” said Fine. “Fling is fun, cool and fast-paced. I really see the potential.”
Other military courses that offer FlingGolf include: Keesler AFB, Miss.; Fort Lee, Va.; Hickam AFB, Hawaii; Mayport NAS, Fla., and Oceana NAS, Va.
“FlingGolf is becoming a stand-alone hybrid sport that is growing rapidly across the United States and around the world,” says Alex Van Alen, CEO of PlusOne Sports and Founder of FlingGolf. “A few weeks ago we got an order for 24 sticks from the U.S. Army in South Korea and we’ve got courses going strong in Australia and New Zealand. We also enjoy a longstanding partnership with the National Golf Course Owners Association.”
With more than 320 partner courses worldwide, FlingGolf is not only growing in popularity within the military but juniors, millennials, non-golfers and golfers alike are finding FlingGolf a fun and addicting sport. FlingGolf is a great alternative for wounded combat veterans who are going through rehabilitation and want to get outside on a golf course.
“FlingGolf salutes our military and we currently manufacture a specially designed patriotic stick wrapped in the red, white and blue,” said Van Alen. “In honor of Veterans Day, FlingGolf is offering a 15 percent discount on our Patriot FlingStick.”
Getting started with FlingGolf is easy and fun for all ages. For more information, go to www.flinggolf.com.

LPGA Hall of Fame instructor Kay McMahon called the High Heat metalwoods “the best on the market,” adding, “They are designed for the amateur golfer who will experience immediate results and more playability.”
Fellow LPGA and PGA professional Sue Kaffenburgh called the High Heat 3-wood “unequivocally the best, easiest club I've ever hit.”
High Heat has been garnering awards, winning golf championships and earning rave reviews since its debut nearly three years ago. Former USGA Senior Director Dean Knuth designed High Heat with amateur swings in mind.
Knuth Golf is the only company that uses titanium faces for its complete line of metalwoods, which generate more ball speed and lower spin. This provides greater distance and forgiveness compared to the steel faces used by all other major companies.
McMahon, creator of the award-winning Golf 8.5 learning method, calls High Heat “a major game-changer.”
“High Heat drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids are easy to hit; the golf ball rockets off the face creating more distance and straighter shots,” said McMahon, a Lenox, MA-based instructor who is in Golf Digest’s 50 Best Women Teachers in America. “They are the best on the market and are designed for the amateur golfer who will experience immediate results and more playability. Just try it. You’ll love them.”
Kaffenburgh is a New England PGA and Northeast LPGA Teacher of the Year based in Cape Cod, and has been named one of the top 12 golf instructors in Massachusetts by Golf Digest. Like most instructors she is always looking for ways to help players gain more enjoyment from the game. Recently she started recommended High Heat products to her students. The results have amazed them and her.
“My students can't believe the added distance from High Heat, and how easy it is to get the ball in the air,” said Kaffenburgh. “The lower and deeper center of gravity creates an immediate launch angle that will produce greater carry distances. The powerful sound of the strike off the Titanium face helps build your confidence.”
She added, “I can report to you, unequivocally, that I found their High Heat 3 wood to be the best, easiest club I've ever hit. I love my driver and hybrid too. These folks are so convinced of the benefits of their products that they have an incredible money back guarantee.”
The High Heat technology was born from designer Knuth’s love of amateur golf. He spe3clubsnt 16 years as Senior Director at the USGA, where he invented the Course Rating and Slope Systems. After retiring from the USGA he set out on his goal of creating golf clubs designed to enhance the performance of amateur golfers. Several years later, High Heat was born.
At KnuthGolf.com, an online fitting is conducted to properly address the loft for the driver and which weight and flex is needed for the club shaft for it and any High Heat fairway wood or hybrid they purchase. Further, Knuth Golf is so sure that its High Heat clubs will significantly improve an amateur’s performance that it provides a 30-day full refund guarantee.

At the 2016 PGA Show, Dr. Donnelly and Ms. Weller delivered a groundbreaking presentation in the 2,500-seat Chapin Theatre at the Orange County Convention Center at the PGA Youth and Family Golf Summit. Their topic focused on how to introduce very young children (ages 2-5) to golf in a developmentally correct way. Their presentation sparked great interest and discussion among the international group of attendees. Since then, Little Golf T.R.A.I.N. Certified Conductors have come on board in seven countries, and the number continues to grow.
“Parents and coaches want our youngest golfers to truly enjoy the game and learn the correct fundamentals, but many young children are taught as if they are little adults, which doesn’t foster a love of golf,” says Dr. Donnelly, a world-renowned educational sport psychotherapist. “That’s why we developed the T.R.A.I.N. approach, which is based on teaching through play.” Says Weller, Head Teaching Professional at The Landings Club, in Savannah, GA.: “Our program is rooted in early-childhood, age-appropriate techniques and is designed to foster joy in learning about the game. Our goal is to certify golf professionals and pre-school educators around the world so they can introduce children to golf in an age-appropriate way while growing their own business.”

Newell, a five-year member of the USGA Executive Committee, has chaired the Rules of Golf Committee since 2012. During that time, he has co-led the joint USGA/R&A Rules modernization project, which will result in major Rules changes in 2019. He also chaired the USGA Handicap Committee and spent four years as co-chair of the World Handicap Initiative, which developed the proposed USGA/R&A World Handicap System that is scheduled to debut in 2020.

The other new nominees to the 15-member Executive Committee, a volunteer group that serves as the Association’s executive policy-making board, are Paul G. Brown, Kendra Graham and Sharon Ritchey. Richard A. Shortz has been nominated as general counsel.
If elected at the USGA’s Annual Meeting on Feb. 3, 2018, in Miami, Fla., the nominees would replace departing Committee members Murphy, Sheila Johnson, George Still and Thomas Hough. Robert Weber will also retire as general counsel.

Nicklaus Companies Announces the Jack Nicklaus Signature Series Drinkware Collection
Offered in Partnership with Suncast Corporation
(RELEASE) - The Nicklaus Companies and Suncast Corporation have jointly that a line of drinkware inspired by the life and life style of Jack Nicklaus—the Golden Bear— is now available on jacknicklaus.suncast.com as well as on Amazon. The collection, which supports the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, helps round out a larger Nicklaus-branded offering in the food and beverage space by the company founded by Nicklaus, the record 18-time major champion, businessman, and philanthropist. The line includes a selection of versatile cooler caddies, as well as tumblers, wine chillers and more, created for use on and off the golf course—from the backyard to the back nine.
With eight SKUs, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Series created by Suncast Corporation complements Nicklaus-branded Golden Bear Lemonade by AriZona Beverages, Jack Nicklaus Wines by Terlato Wines, and water by AquaHydrate.
Inspired by Nicklaus’ lifestyle, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Series was designed to exhibit the characteristics that a true champion possesses: grace, style, and performance under pressure.
“Suncast Corporation is excited about its partnership with the Nicklaus Companies”, said Tom Tisbo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Suncast Corporation. “Not only do we feel our brand values align with that of the Nicklaus organization, but we also believe in giving back to our community.
“We have grown our business over the years by building our brand and that means quality products that perform well for the consumer. We feel this new collection of drinkware and soft-sided coolers complements not just the Nicklaus-branded offering of products, but also Suncast Corporation’s product offerings. Getting that exposure and spreading our message through brand partnerships is very meaningful to us.”
The Cooler Caddie is a soft sided cooler that is tall enough to hold wine bottles upright and sturdy enough to hold 22 pounds of ice. It was manufactured with practicality and efficiency in mind— the expandable, easy-to-open top is made for easy access, and its exterior pocket is great for storing essentials, such as keys, a cell phone, a bottle opener, and a wallet. The durable, leak-proof construction is made from heavy-duty 1680 denier nylon, includes a double-stitched nylon webbing handle, and features elevated Thermoplastic Rubber feet to provide sturdy above-ground footing. MSRP is $149.00 and includes a three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Two Tumblers in 20-ounce and 30-ounce sizes are popular offerings in the Jack Nicklaus Signature Series. Both sizes are made from BPA-free stainless steel. The material, plus double-wall vacuum insulation, allows the tumblers to keep beverages cold for a minimum of nine hours or hot for three hours. Both sizes fit in a standard-size cup holder, so on-the-go drinks can be enjoyed on the cart path or the road. Both tumblers come with an easy-sip lid that features one click closure to avoid spills and an opening to accommodate a straw. MSRP is $19.99 for the 20-ounce tumbler and $24.99 for the 30-ounce tumbler.
The stainless steel, 20-ounce Jack Nicklaus Signature Series water bottle is also made of BPA-free materials. The double-wall vacuum insulation preserves beverage temperature, while the practical cap with ring lid is leak-proof and allows for clip attachment onto golf bags or belts. The design and materials allow the water bottle to keep beverages cold for a minimum of nine hours or hot for three hours. MSRP is $24.99.
The game is meant to be fun—and so is life. Celebrate like a champion with the Jack Nicklaus Signature Series Wine Bottle. Also made from BPA-free stainless steel, the Wine Bottle is designed to hold a full bottle of wine (750 ML) and keep it cold for a minimum of nine hours. The complementing Wine Chiller holds one standard-size bottle of wine or spirits. Both products are perfect for enjoying several varietals of Jack Nicklaus Wines or Jack’s House Wines. The MSRP for the Wine Bottle is $29.99, while the Wine Chiller is $39.99.
The Jack Nicklaus Signature Series’ design offers a unique option to consumers with the same high standard of quality as other top-of-the-line items on the market. Selected through a series of market research studies, the platinum gray color is the color of wisdom and knowledge, while being a neutral, timeless classic that is both sleek and professional. Each product also features the Golden Bear logo—one of the most enduring and iconic logos in all of sports. Jack Nicklaus became known as the “Golden Bear” shortly after turning professional in 1962 and launching a career considered the greatest in the game’s history.
“We are delighted about our partnership with Suncast and appreciate Tom Tisbo’s faith in our company and the brand,” said Nicklaus Companies Co-Chairman Howard Milstein. “The Nicklaus brand has been a leader in the golf space for decades. Increasingly, our more recent product introductions, like Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Grill restaurants and Jack Nicklaus Ice Cream, are being welcomed by consumers as lifestyle products, reflecting the best of American values just like Jack's iconic career.
“The Jack Nicklaus Signature Series collection by Suncast is a logical extension of our brand. Additionally, as we have done with most of our products and offerings in recent years, we have integrated a give-back feature that will benefit children’s health care through the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. The charitable tie-in is very important to Jack, the Nicklaus family, our family, and everyone at the Nicklaus Companies. It is part of our DNA.”

Hot Streak for Tour Edge Exotics Continues with Top 10 Finish in Champions Tour Playoffs
(RELEASE) - Tour Edge Golf continued their recent success with their new CBX fairway woods and hybrids on the PGA Champions Tour with a Top 10 finish at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, the first playoff event of the Champions Tour.
A 5-time PGA TOUR winner played a new CBX 18-degree fairway wood to a T8th finish at the Country Club of Virginia, shooting 10-under par after firing eight birdies Sunday.
The popular Swede shot 17 total birdies and now ranks 43rd in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, which culminates Nov. 13 at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship held in Phoenix.
According to the Darrell Survey, 10 Exotics CBX fairway woods and hybrids have been put into play the past two weeks on the Champions Tour. Last week at the SAS Championship, the CBX hybrid made its debut with a one-time Major winner and 5-time PGA TOUR champion when it went into play in the bag of the #16 ranked Champions Tour player in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.
The Exotics CBX was initially introduced to the Champions Tour at the Senior Players Championship earlier this year. Players immediately put the new club into play at the Major event, even on short notice after seeing the product for the first time during the practice week of the event.
Players putting CBX into play at the Senior Players included a recent 2017 winner on the Champions Tour and two other PGA Tour Major Championship winners.
The CBX was in play for a second-place finish that week when the 2017 winner of the Principal Charity Classic put the brand-new prototype hybrid into play after testing the club for the first time at the all-important Major Championship. The player earned $224,000 with his 2nd place finish to move up to 5th place on the Charles Schwab Cup money list at the time.
“The Champions Tour gives us an opportunity to get feedback from the best golfers to ever walk the planet,” said Tour Edge President and Master Club Designer David Glod. “It has been important for us to get the feedback directly from those who know best with these tour-inspired club designs where we placed the Center of Gravity higher and forward in the club head to be a spin-killer. The feedback on the performance, sound, spin, looks and feel has been through the roof phenomenal.”
So far, the players that have put Exotics CBX clubs into play on the Champions Tour, are players that account for winning 35 PGA TOUR events and five major championships in their careers.
This week the Champions Tour will continue with the second round of the playoffs with the Power Shares QQQ Championship , held at Sherwood Country Club just north of Los Angeles.
The new Exotics CBX fairway woods and hybrid were designed with a multi-material construction that includes the top of the line in Beta Titanium, Hyper Steel and Carbon Composite materials. This unique combination of three different materials helps produce a penetrating ball flight that cuts through windy conditions and lowers side spin rates for greater accuracy. They are currently the only Titanium face fairway woods and hybrids available for sale in the US market.
The Exotics CBX hybrid’s higher CG is located slightly forward in the club head through the use of a carbon fiber in the sole, which is significantly lighter than stainless steel. This helps to increase ball speed and reduce spin, which makes for less dispersion.
Tour Edge’s extremely thin Beta-titanium cup-face enlarges the ideal hitting area on the clubs. It is brazed to stainless steel behind the hitting area which allows the face to flex more at impact. This has led to independent robot tests that have shown the CBX to average more than 16 yards longer in distance than several of the best selling fairway woods on the market.
The Speed Ramp sole design on the Exotics CBX products provide reduced turf interaction so the club can maintain its speed through the hitting area.
The Tour Edge Exotics CBX fairway wood and hybrids have shipped to select authorized Tour Edge retailers. Call Tour Edge at 800.515.3343 to find a retailer near you and to see why Exotics is Materially Better.

Pebble Beach Golf Links to Host 2023 U.S. Women’s Open and 2027 U.S. Open Championships
Venue to host its first U.S. Women’s Open Championship, seventh U.S. Open
(FAR HILLS, N.J.) – The USGA announced Pebble Beach Golf Links as the site for the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open and 2027 U.S. Open Championships, the 14th and 15th USGA championships in the course’s storied history.
Pebble Beach, which is already scheduled to host the 2018 U.S. Amateur and 2019 U.S. Open Championships, will host the 78th U.S. Women’s Open – and its first – from June 1-4, 2023. The 127th U.S. Open – the seventh at Pebble Beach – will be contested June 17-20, 2027.
The legendary course on the Monterey Peninsula, designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant and opened in 1919, has produced several of the game’s memorable moments in its previous five U.S. Opens. Jack Nicklaus’s 1-iron tee shot that struck the flagstick in 1972, Tom Watson’s chip-in to thwart Nicklaus in 1982, Tom Kite’s pitch-in en route to victory in 1992 and Tiger Woods’ record 15-stroke victory in 2000 are all stamped in the game’s lore.
“We are incredibly proud to bring the U.S. Women’s Open to Pebble Beach for the first time,” said Diana Murphy, president of the USGA. “The USGA is committed to bringing our championships to golf’s greatest venues and the opportunity to have the best players in the world, female and male, compete at this iconic course will provide a fantastic showcase of the game. Our friends at the Pebble Beach Company have always been wonderful partners and we are excited for all of our upcoming championships with them.”
During the course’s 98-year history, it has hosted five U.S. Opens, four U.S. Amateurs, two U.S. Women’s Amateurs and one PGA Championship. These will be the 14th and 15th USGA championships contested on the course, moving it to fourth all-time among host sites.
The 1972 U.S. Open Championship at Pebble Beach was the first to be played on a course that is open to the public. It is one of six public-access courses to host a U.S. Open.
“The USGA’s relationship with Pebble Beach dates to the 1929 U.S. Amateur and it has proven itself time and again during the 11 previous championships,” said Mike Davis, CEO of the USGA. “Pebble Beach Golf Links is a national golf treasure and our partners at the Pebble Beach Company have committed to hosting four USGA championships in the next 10 years, including the 2018 U.S. Amateur and 2019 U.S. Open. The commitment from their hardworking and dedicated staff and the support of the Monterey Peninsula region, as well as our faith that Pebble Beach will consistently challenge the best players in the game, make it an ideal venue to host USGA championships for years to come.”
“We take great pride in our special, longstanding partnership with the USGA,” said Bill Perocchi, CEO of Pebble Beach Company. “This announcement is a milestone in the history of Pebble Beach and one we are thrilled about, especially as we prepare to host the U.S. Amateur in 2018 and U.S. Open in 2019 during our centennial celebration. To be entrusted with hosting our seventh U.S. Open, and to be given the honor of hosting our first U.S. Women’s Open, is truly special and exciting for all of us here at Pebble Beach.”

Two Industry Titans Inducted into Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame
(Myrtle Beach, S.C.) – Hotelier and golf course owner Vernon Brake and Bob LeComte, an integral part of the World Amateur Handicap Championship’s growth, were inducted into the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame at Pine Lakes Country Club Thursday evening.
“Vernon Brake and Bob LeComte were vital figures in Myrtle Beach’s growth, doing work that sometimes went unnoticed by the public but was pivotal to the area’s emergence as the Golf Capital of the World,” said Bill Golden, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday’s president. “Both were locks for induction and it was a pleasure to celebrate their accomplishments and Myrtle Beach’s rich history.”
Brake was part of a group that bought The Breakers Hotel in the 1970s and as the managing partner, he spearheaded its growth from a property with 71 units to one with more than 650. Brake also launched a golf package business at The Breakers, booking hundreds of thousands of rounds over the years.
Buoyed by his success at The Breakers, Brake was a founding partner of Myrtle Beach National (MBN), one of the Grand Strand’s bedrock developments. MBN eventually expanded to include 10 courses with Brake helping lead the way.
He was also an influential board member at Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday and Grand Strand Tee Time Network.
LeComte, who was inducted posthumously, didn’t arrive on the Myrtle Beach golf scene until the conclusion of a 37-year business career, but he left a lasting legacy on the Grand Strand, helping attract the two most significant title sponsorships in the destination’s history.
LeComte secured DuPont as the title sponsor of the World Amateur Handicap Championship, and it grew into one of the longest and most successful relationships in all of sports. During DuPont’s 22-year year run as title sponsor, the World Am grew into an event that annually attracted 4,500+ players from every corner of the globe.
LeComte's tenacity also led to securing Energizer as a title sponsor for the Senior Tour Championship, bringing a high profile, professional golf event to Myrtle Beach. The Senior Tour Championship provided international exposure as well as a live domestic television audience, showcasing the Myrtle Beach golf experience, and it wouldn’t have happened without LeComte.
Brake and LeComte became the 19th and 20th inductees into the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame, which is located in the courtyard at Pine Lakes, the area’s first course.
Other members of the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame are: General James Hackler, Robert White, Jimmy D’Angelo, Carolyn Cassidy Cudone, Clay Brittain, Cecil Brandon, George “Buster” Bryan, Gary Schaal, Paul Himmelsbach, Charles Byers, Egerton Burroughs, J. Bryan Floyd, Edward Jerdon, George Hilliard, Russell “Doc” Burgess, Critt Gore, Sandy Miles, Phillips Goings, Kelly Tilghman and Edward Burroughs.
Established to pay tribute to the men and women who have played significant roles in the development of the Myrtle Beach area golf industry, the Hall of Fame was founded in 2009.

Henry added that this is an exciting next chapter for the company. "aboutGolf has world-leading technology and products that set the standard," he said. "To complement that, we have a great mix of people across the board. I have worked closely with them before and look forward to it again."
The company's technology extends above and beyond any notion you've had about what a golf simulator can be. It's elegant and unobtrusive, using a 3Trak launch monitor that accurately measures ball and club data. The system uses an advanced physics engine that can simulate every type of golf shot. High-def projected image can be up to 4K in resolution. It's ideal for retail spaces, indoor golf centers, country clubs or even homes.

Nike Continues to Redefine Traction and Comfort in a Golf Shoe
(RELEASE) - When introduced in 2016, first on the Nike Flyknit Elite and then again on the Nike Lunar Control Vapor, Articulated Integrated Traction (AIT) was revolutionary as spikeless footwear that performed at the highest level. Since then it has proven itself on the biggest stages of the game by some of the best athletes in the world. Now, the Nike footwear team uses this unique traction and combines it with even more cushion and support to create the Nike Lunar Control Vapor 2.
“When Nike and I first started collaborating on the Lunar Control Vapor more than two years ago, one of our goals was to make the most comfortable golf shoe around,” said Rory McIlroy. “I spend an enormous amount of time on my feet day-in and day-out while on the golf course. That shoe exceeded all of my expectations in terms of comfort and I’m really looking forward to playing in the new Lunar Control Vapor 2.”
Per McIlroy’s statement, the Nike footwear team looked for ways to make the Lunar Control Vapor an even more comfortable shoe. Not only has the full-length Lunarlon foam been enhanced but the team included a new conforming sockliner for immediate cushioning directly under the foot.
“The Lunar Control Vapor 2 is testament to our continued success of comfort and traction, with the perfect blend of stability and natural motion,” said Gentry Humphrey, VP Profile Sports Footwear. “AIT continues to provide maximum ground traction while allowing the outsole to articulate in a motion that mimics the natural movement of the human foot.”
The biggest aesthetic change is the new NikeSkin upper that offers lateral support and also helps minimize stretch. Nike Flywire provides midfoot support and aids in foot lockdown.
The Nike Lunar Control Vapor 2 is first available October 28 in the colorway worn by Nike athletes at the TOUR Championship at nike.com in limited quantities. Additional colorways, including three for men (wolf grey/blue fury, white/black and black/white) and three for women (white/black, black/metallic silver and white/blue fury), will be available starting November 4 at nike.com and select retailers for $175.
