(RELEASE) - Golf course developer Mike Keiser, business entrepreneur Todd Warnock, land owner Edward Abel Smith and the Embo Trust, Urras Euraboil, announced today that, after several years of thoughtful consideration, a thoroughly vetted planning document will be submitted to Highland Council on September 29, regarding the proposed development of Coul Links – an 18-hole golf course on the coast just north of Embo, Sutherland, Scotland.
The planning documents, which will outline all economic and environmental considerations and plans, were prepared after thoughtful input from local community leaders and public officials.
“We have worked meticulously with the Scottish authorities and local community to refine our layout such that this special site is protected and enhanced environmentally, and also serves as an economic catalyst similar to Mike‘s projects in Bandon and Cabot,“ said Todd Warnock.
“Coul Links is a special site that will inspire two of the best course architects in the world to design a classic true links,” said Keiser. “It's location, less than 1.5 miles from legendary Royal Dornoch Golf Club and several others a short drive away, will likely establish a third major destination of Scottish golf.”
Designed by well-known architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who collaborated with Keiser at Bandon Trails in Bandon, Ore., Cabot Cliffs in Inverness, Nova Scotia, and Sand Valley in Rome, Wis., Coul Links will be the duo’s their first course built in Scotland.
“I’m not sure I’ve seen a more spectacular site for golf,” said Coore. “It’s a humbling honor to build a golf course in the home of links golf.”
The team is also pleased to announce Chris Haspell, formerly Course Manager at Castle Stuart, has joined as project manager.
The development team will hold their next round of public consultation events in mid-October and, should Highland Council approve the plan over the next few months, hope to begin construction in Spring 2018.

Tennessee Wins Final USGA Women's State Team Championship
(SANTA FE, N.M.) - The Tennessee trio of Riley Rennell, Jayna Choi and Ashley Gilliam combined to shoot 1-under-par 143 in the final round to win the 12th and final USGA Women’s State Team Championship on The Club at Las Campanas’ Sunrise Course, which played to a par of 72 and 6,267 yards on Thursday.
The rain-suspended Round 2 was completed in the morning after the course received 1.49 inches of rain on Wednesday. With 55 grounds crew members working in the pre-dawn hours, the course was made playable and Round 2 resumed at 7:10 a.m. MDT. The final round began at 9:15 a.m. with a two-tee start.
The leader board was in constant flux once play got underway, with Tennessee, Delaware, Florida, Alabama, New York and Indiana all moving into at least a tie for first place at some point. When the dust settled, Tennessee claimed the Judy Bell Trophy at 1-under 431. Delaware shot 3 under in Round 3 to finish one stroke behind Tennessee and one stroke ahead of third-place Florida. Alabama finished fourth at 3-over 435. New York, which led after the first two rounds, shot 7 over on Thursday to finish in a tie for fifth with Indiana.
It was a total team effort for Tennessee, one of three all-teenager trios in the championship – Delaware and Mississippi were the others. All three Tennessee players contributed at least one counting score. Rennell, 19, of Columbia, bailed the team out with a 4-under 68 in Round 1, 10 strokes better than her next-best teammate, but she posted a non-counting 77 in Round 2 before rebounding with a team-best 71 in the final round. Gilliam shot 72 on Thursday and Choi added a solid non-counting 74.
“This is a team event, and what was best about it was we all contributed,” said Rennell. “They kind of had a rough start and I just hung in there for them and I had a rough second day, and they came through for me.”
For Choi, 16, of Collierville, the finality of the event resonated.
“What’s really awesome is it’s the last championship for the State Team, so I think it’s a total blessing having them have your back,” she said.
Gilliam, 16, of Manchester, couldn’t get over the weight of the Judy Bell Trophy, both figuratively and literally.
“It was very heavy. I think I will be sore tomorrow,” she said. “I’m just glad I didn’t break it.”
The Women's State Team consists of three-player teams, with all 50 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico eligible to field teams. This year, 47 states and the District of Columbia fielded teams, with North Dakota, Puerto Rico, South Dakota and Wyoming opting not to compete. The championship consisted of 18 holes of stroke play on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The best two scores for the team count toward the team score, with the third score acting as a tiebreaker. After 36 holes, the field was cut to the low 21 teams and ties, which resulted in 22 teams this year. Any individual whose team missed the cut but was within five strokes of the individual lead was eligible to continue to play for the individual medal, but that didn’t come into play this year.
The USGA's State Team championships began in 1995 as part of the Association's Centennial Celebration. They were conducted on a biennial basis until 2010, when the men and women began alternating years. After a two-year review process with state and regional golf associations, it was announced in March that the USGA would retire its State Team championships at the end of the 2017 season. The USGA annually conducts 13 national championships, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
“The USGA expresses its gratitude to all the champions and competitors of the USGA State Team Championships, as well as the host clubs and the hundreds of volunteers who contributed their time and efforts,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA senior managing director, Championships and Governance, in March. “In our reviews and discussions, it became quite clear that the conditions of competition had evolved, and there were significant differences in the respective team selection processes. After considering the matter for more than a year, the review supported increased focus toward other areas of USGA competition, both present and future, including the continued enhancement of the local and sectional qualifying experience for players across all USGA championships.”
Two-time U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Julia Potter, 29, of Indianapolis, Ind., shot 6-under 210 to claim the individual medal. Potter, who won the Women’s Mid-Amateur in 2013 and 2016, shot 2-under 70 in all three rounds.
“It’s amazing. I’ve been lucky enough to be medalist twice in the [Women’s] Mid-Amateur, and it’s not easy,” said Potter. “It’s hard. It’s a grind to make it happen, and so it means a lot.”
The youngest team in the field with a combined age of 47, Delaware delivered by far the best performance in its history in the Women’s State Team. The same trio of Phoebe Brinker, Jennifer Cleary and Esther Park competed two years ago at Dalhousie Golf Club and missed the cut. Its best previous finish was 32nd in the inaugural championship in 1995.
Cleary, 16, of Wilmington, spearheaded Delaware’s rise up the leader board by making three birdies in the morning’s resumption of Round 2 to post a 5-under 67, tying Gilliam for the low round of the championship. Brinker, 15, of Wilmington, then shot 68 in Round 3 and finished two strokes behind Potter, good for second on the individual leader board.
“I played really solid golf all three days, so that felt good,” said Brinker. “Then with Jen shooting a 67 the second day, that definitely boosted us up the leader board. That felt good.”
Florida entered the final round one stroke off New York’s pace and counted an even-par 72 from four-time U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Meghan Stasi, 39, of Oakland Park, and a 73 by Alexa Pano, 13, of Lake Worth, the youngest player in the field.
“This is such a tough format, especially on the last day,” said Stasi. “You have no idea how the other teams are doing, how your own team is doing. So, I just went out and tried to play my game. I had it going early, was 2 under but gave them back and finished even. Unfortunately, I just wasn’t good enough today.”
With Joy-Connelly posting a non-counting 76, Pano helped keep Florida in contention by finishing her round with three straight birdies. She also enjoyed spending time with her teammates.
“It is an honor to play in this championship, and especially to play with Meghan and Tara, who are so accomplished and so focused on the golf course,” said Pano. “They were really good to me. To be on the last team representing Florida is really awesome.”
This was the second USGA championship in New Mexico, joining the 1999 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links at Santa Ana Golf Course in Santa Ana Pueblo. Only two competitors in this week’s field competed in the 1999 WAPL: Sue Billek Nyhus, of Utah, and Leslie Folsom, of Washington.

LPGA International’s Acclaimed Jones Course Completes Greens Renovation Project
Former Host of LPGA Season-Ending Championship Installed New TifEagle Putting Surfaces
(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) — LPGA International’s acclaimed Jones Course reopened on schedule Wednesday, September 27 following a summer greens renovation project, welcoming golfers back with pristine conditions and smooth, fast putting surfaces.
After extensive research, LPGA International installed TifEagle Bermuda, one of the newer strains of ultradwarf grass that will ensure golfers enjoy a premium putting surface throughout the year. The greens were also restored to their original size.
“The renovation went perfectly, and we can’t wait to welcome golfers back this fall,” said Michael Glenn, LPGA International’s general manager. “Players will find the greens are smooth and fast, and the course, from tee to green, is in superb condition.”
The Jones Course hosted the LPGA’s Sprint Titleholders Championship from 1996 through 1998, and World Golf Hall of Fame member Karrie Webb was one of the winners. The layout will host the final stage of the LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament Nov. 27 – Dec. 3, and the Symetra Tour Championship Oct. 5-8.
A links style design, the Jones Course has five sets of tees that stretch from 5,131 yards to 7,088 yards, providing the appropriate level of challenge for players of all skill levels. Strategic mounding, expansive bunkers, natural marsh areas and lakes provide unforgettable visuals and have helped make the course one of Florida’s best.
LPGA International is also home to the highly touted Hills Course, and helps anchor the Daytona Beach golf scene. Daytona Beach is home to more than 20 courses and is an easy drive from multiple PGA Tour stops, making it an ideal destination for golfers in search of good times on and off the course.
With multiple package options, which allow groups the opportunity to bundle golf and accommodations, and the lure of the World’s Most Famous Beach, Daytona Beach is a fast-emerging golf destination.

TaylorMade Golf Company Unveils TP Red Putter Collection
Expanding on the Successful TP Collection, New Putters Feature Pure Roll Inserts with a Combination of Designs and Constructions in Stunning ‘Tour Red’ Finish
(Carlsbad, Calif.) — TaylorMade Golf Company announced today the expansion of the TP Collection of putters with the introduction of TP Red. Comprised of 6 performance mallet models, the new collection has been designed for the discerning player who seeks the performance of TaylorMade’s renowned Pure Roll technology in an aesthetically appealing Tour Red colorway that the company became the first to roll out in 2016. Since then, the Tour Red colorway has seen its demand grow exponentially on global tours following the success of TaylorMade staffers Jason Day, Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia.
The TP Red Collection is comprised of five new variations of the Ardmore putter as well as the Chaska model. Each of the six new models feature milled 304 stainless steel heads with Tour Red finish for a premium look and feel with high-contrast coloring and a variety of sightline options to promote improved alignment.
Ardmore: A face-balanced mallet designed with dual sightlines for a linear stroke and easy alignment.
Ardmore CTR: A center-shafted, face-balanced mallet designed to emphasize perfectly centered alignment.
Ardmore 2 (“L” Neck): A progressive mallet designed with single top, double cavity sightlines and 27° toe hang for a flowing stroke and enhanced alignment.
Ardmore 2 (double bend): A progressive, face-balanced mallet featuring single top, double cavity sightlines for a straight back, straight through stroke and enhanced alignment.
Ardmore 3: A progressive mid-size mallet incorporating 40° toe hang for a flowing stroke and simple alignment.
Chaska: A larger, face-balanced, semi-rounded mallet with a three top sightlines to encourage a confident stroke.
World number 13 Justin Rose, who first saw the putter at a company photoshoot earlier this month, put the Chaska into play the following week at the BMW Championship, where he finished T2 and recorded a remarkable strokes gained: putting of 2.393.
Each putter in the TP Red Collection has a head weight of 355g, a 3.5° loft, 70° of lie angle and comes available in 34” & 35’’ lengths. Each model in the collection also features interchangeable sole weights to enable the adjustment of mass for optimal performance.
Similar to the original TP Collection, each new model utilizes a new milling process along with TaylorMade’s proprietary Pure Roll insert to deliver optimal forward roll with a desired firm feel.
Pure Roll Insert
The 6061 aluminum Pure Roll insert combines 45° grooves with a softer polymer between the grooves to promote better forward roll and reduce skidding across varying surfaces. The composition and construction of the Pure Roll insert is specially engineered to bring the grooves into direct and active contact with the ball during impact, even on short putts. The grooves in the face also serve in part to strategically soften the insert’s structure. Together, these factors make the insert perform at a very high level.
Currently, TaylorMade Tour staffers Jon Rahm, Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose all play putters incorporating Pure Roll technology.
Availability and Pricing
The TP Red Collection will be available at retail tomorrow, 9/29. Each putter in the collection comes equipped stock with a Super Stroke Pistol GTR 1.0 grip at an MSRP of $219 USD.

QUARK, a one-axis waterproof stabilizer (can be set for “Roll” and “Yaw” axis) for GoPro and other action cameras, stabilizes the attached camera on the selected axis by gathering motion information from different embedded sensors linked to the camera. By analyzing the gathered information, QUARK drives its powerful, custom motor to ensure users can record fully stable and level videos.
QUARK is the world’s first waterproof (up to 1m/3ft) stabilizer for GoPro and other action cameras, so users can use it during any water activity (i.e.: kitesurfing, surfing, kayaking, etc.) And, because of its size (76x67x31 mm / 3x2,6x1,2 in), users can keep it attached to their camera at all times. Lightweight (240g / 0.53Pound / 8.5 Oz), QUARK can be mounted on any mount, pole, helmet, ski, surfboard, etc.
“After using a variety of different 3-axis stabilizers, we realized that they were not practical and truly adapted for action cameras,” said Lancelot Gelas, founder, Noir Matter. “Most of them are too big, bulky, complex and heavy. By miniaturizing the technology, we have been able to create a product that you can use everywhere.”
Additional QUARK Specs:
• STABILIZATION: Electric with a Brushless DC Motor
• SENSORS: 3-axis gyroscope (“Roll,” “Pitch” and “Yaw” axes), accelerometer
• ONE SWITCH: Press the On/Off switch for easy activation or shut down
• BATTERY: Lithium Polymer, life of 3h (Recharge in 2h)

New York Leads After Round 1 of the 12th USGA Women's State Team Championship
(SANTA FE, N.M.) - Buoyed by a pair of 1-under-par 73 performances from Marianna Monaco and Ina Kim, New York finished Round 1 of the 12th USGA Women’s State Team Championship, which is being contested at The Club at Las Campanas in Santa Fe, N.M., with a three-stroke lead over Arizona. A par-72 Jack Nicklaus layout, the Sunrise Course at Las Campanas played at 6,233 yards on Tuesday.
Kim, 34, of New York, set a blistering pace early, birdieing the first three holes and five of the first six before giving three strokes back with a bogey on 8 and a double bogey on 9. After another double bogey on 11 dropped her to even par, she played 1 under over the final eight holes, including a birdie on No. 13.
“I was en fuego early. It was like an out-of-body experience. I couldn't not hit it close to the hole,” said Kim, the runner-up in the 2000 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship. “And then there were some hiccups around the turn. Once the wind picked up, it turned into a little bit of a disaster for a bit. But I tried to get over it and move on. I talked about that this morning with [teammate LeeAnn Lewis]: If you get knocked out, get back up again.”
Monaco, 22, of Yonkers, played consistent, clean golf, posting three birdies on the outward nine and coming in 2 over. A long hitter, Monaco used a 4- or 5-iron on most tee shots on the par 4s.
“I hit it long, but I don't always hit it straight,” said Monaco, the 2017 New York State Women’s Amateur champion. “And on this course, you can't be wide off the tee. My round was more fairway, green, then two-putt. Other than two bogeys on the back nine, I can't really complain about anything. It was kind of boring golf today, honestly.”
The championship consists of 18 holes of stroke play on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The best two scores for the team count toward the team score, with the third score acting as a tiebreaker. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 21 teams and ties, plus any individual whose team missed the cut but is within five strokes of the individual lead. The low individual after 54 holes receives a gold medal.
After Arizona on the leader board, three teams finished the day tied for third, four strokes back at 2-over 146: Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee. Tennessee, one of three teams in the field comprised solely of teenagers, was led by Riley Rennell, 19, of Columbia. Rennell posted the low individual score of the day at 4-under 68, posting seven birdies.
“I played really well. I was having trouble with my irons, but I had a lot of wedges into the green,” said Rennell. “I made a lot of birdies when I had a wedge in my hand. I was able to hit it pretty close and my putting was really on.”
New York, Arizona and Tennessee all played in the afternoon wave, while Florida and North Carolina received all-around team efforts to put themselves in early contention. All three members of the Florida team – Alexa Pano, Tara-Joy Connelly and four-time U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Meghan Stasi – shot 1-over 73. North Carolina was led by Sarah Bae, 23, of Pinehurst, who shot even par.
“The course was great. The weather conditions were awesome because we got lucky with the draw,” said Bae. “I'm proud of my team.”
Indiana and South Carolina finished tied for sixth at 3-over 147. Indiana received a strong showing from two-time Women’s Mid-Amateur champion (2013, 2016) Julia Potter, who shot 2-under 70, recording five birdies.
“I feel pretty good, especially with how windy it was this afternoon,” said Potter, 29, of Franklin. “I just tried to stay in my lane, go for the holes where I thought I could make birdie, then try to make pars on the others. I struggled a little on my final nine, because that wind got really intense, but I was glad to finish birdie-par.”
New Mexico, which has finished in the top 10 of the last two Women’s State Team Championships, struggled out of the gate. Jacquelyn Galloway, 17, of Rio Rancho, posted the team’s best score at 5 over. Chanet Fiorina-Trujillo, 25, of Santa Fe, shot 14 over; and Samantha Surette, 45, of Albuquerque, shot 18 over.
Galloway admitted to being nervous prior to teeing off in front of a large crowd. She recorded a double bogey on her first hole, No. 10, then played a solid 3 over the rest of the way, birdieing Nos. 17 and 6.
“I love USGA championships always, so to play in one in my home state is great,” she said. “I was getting a little anxious before I teed off because I was playing sick, too. But it was still a great experience.”
Defending champion and four-time winner Georgia finished the day in a tie for 22nd place, led by Ivy Shepherd’s 3-over 75.
This is the second USGA championship in New Mexico, joining the 1999 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links at Santa Ana Golf Course in Santa Ana Pueblo. Only two competitors in this week’s field competed in the 1999 WAPL: Sue Billek Nyhus, of Utah, and Leslie Folsom, of Washington.

Golf Life TV Show Full of Praise for Award-Winning High Heat Family of Metalwoods
(BONITA, CA) – Another notable member of the media has joined a growing list of believers in Knuth Golf’s award-winning family of High Heat metalwoods.
Michael Billingsley, host and producer of the long-running Golf Life TV show on Fox Sports, recently raved on air about his complete set of High Heat metalwoods.
“With its titanium faces, High Heat’s metal woods are the best clubs I have ever tested or reviewed in my 25 years of the show,” said Billingsley, whose show has won numerous awards. “They are my favorite clubs in my bag and have reduced my scores.”
For a video excerpt of Billingsley’s comments, Click HERE.
During the feature, Billingsley touched on all the technology that separates High Heat from the competition. Designer Dean Knuth created High Heat for amateur golfers, who have swings and performance needs that are different than those of professionals.
“This is all about the technology,” said Billingsley. “Titanium faces on the fairways woods and hybrids – no one else has that.”
Billingsley also touched on the center of gravity, which is 25% deeper and 18% lower than that of the major brands, making High Heat clubs easier to hit while providing greater spring-like effect for more distance.
“I played a full set of clubs from a standard manufacture and played well. But I actually shot six strokes better a week later with High Heat, and it was really all about distance,” said Billingsley. “I was actually outdriving guys a lot bigger than me with better clubhead speed, and I was driving past them all day long, hitting fairways.”
That technology was born from Knuth’s love of amateur golf. He spent 16 years as Senior Director at the USGA, where he invented the Course Rating and Slope Systems. After retiring from the USGA he set out on his goal of creating golf clubs designed to enhance the performance of amateur golfers. Several years later, High Heat was born.
High Heat is the only brand that offers titanium faces in its fairway woods and hybrids. This not only provides additional distance on center hits but it enables golfers to perform much better on off-center hits, leading to more greens in regulation and lower scores. Major brands only offer steel faces in their fairway woods and hybrids, which have less spring-like trampoline effect on off-center hits, often the main reason shots fall short of the green.
“What Dean wanted to do was push the limits of technology – get you Titanium faces; get you a club that you’re going to be able to outperform your competitors,” said Billingsley.
At KnuthGolf.com, an online fitting is conducted to properly address the loft for the driver and which weight and flex is needed for the club shaft for any High Heat fairway wood or hybrid they purchase. Further, Knuth Golf is so sure that its High Heat clubs will significantly improve an amateur’s performance that it provides a 30-day full refund guarantee.
“If you get a money-back guarantee and you can get golf clubs that you’re going to improve that much, why wouldn’t you try it?” said Billingsley.

U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Successfully Relocated, Champions Golf Club Steps Up to Host
Houston-based club, shortly after remarkable recovery from flooding, opens its doors to a USGA championship displaced from Florida by Hurricane Irma
(FAR HILLS, N.J.) – The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced that the 31st U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship, originally slated for Oct. 7-12 at Quail Creek Country Club in Naples, Fla., has been relocated to Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas. The championship will be conducted from Nov. 11-16 on the club’s famed Cypress Creek Course.
This follows last week’s announcement that the championship would be relocated due to the impact of Hurricane Irma, which caused extensive flooding and damage to Quail Creek’s course and clubhouse.
“We are extremely grateful to Champions Golf Club for stepping forward to assist during the unprecedented and unfortunate displacement of the 31st U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship from Quail Creek Country Club,” said Rachel Sadowski, U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship director. “As we work to deliver an exemplary championship for all in Houston, our thoughts remain with Quail Creek and all of those working to rebuild and recover from this year’s storms.”
“Champions, the site of the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open, has been an incredible friend of the USGA over the years,” said USGA President Diana M. Murphy. “And it speaks volumes to the character of the members and leadership for them to offer their course – a three-time USGA championship venue, no less – on such short notice. We are confident this championship will be a success. We will keep all of those who have been impacted by the recent hurricanes in our utmost thoughts.”
Champions Golf Club was founded in 1957 by World Golf Hall of Fame members Jack Burke Jr., who currently serves as president, and the late Jimmy Demaret. The Cypress Creek Course was designed by Ralph Plummer and opened in 1958.
"As an all-too-recent witness to the powerful and destructive ability of Mother Nature, it is a privilege for Champions Golf Club to be able to host the 31st U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur,” said Robin Burke, the 2016 USA Curtis Cup Team captain and Champions Golf Club Vice President, in regard to the damage inflicted on much of Greater Houston, including the Champions area, due to Hurricane Harvey in late August and early September. “Lucky for us, our course has rebounded exceptionally well from the more than 30 inches we sustained last month due to the storm, and we feel it is our duty to give back to the golf community and an honor to welcome those who have been adversely affected by another hurricane to our home. We wish our friends in Florida a speedy and successful recovery.”
Champions has a rich pedigree of hosting elite professional and amateur competitions. Orville Moody won the 1969 U.S. Open at Champions, coming back from a three-stroke deficit after three rounds to win his only major title by one stroke over future PGA Tour commissioner Deane Beman, Al Geiberger and Bob Rosburg. The club also hosted the 1993 U.S. Amateur, won by John Harris, and the 1998 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, won by Virginia Derby Grimes, captain of the 2018 USA Curtis Cup Team.
The 2017 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur will be the 30th USGA championship held in Texas.

Miura Debuts ICL-601 Driving Iron
(SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ.) - Miura has introduced the ICL-601 driving iron. This Inner Cavity - Long Iron is the latest in Miura's MG Collection, and blends seamlessly with a set of any Miura irons. The initial offering is a 23° 4-iron, with an 18° 2-iron and 20° 3-iron available later this fall.
"The inner cavity design is not new for Miura," says Hoyt McGarity, President of Miura Golf. "It was first introduced with the hugely popular IC-2003. Modern technological advances have allowed us to improve on the original design. This is accomplished by integrating a 455 Carpenter Steel face (as found in our PP-9005 G) and the use of the variable weighting system found in the Hayate woods."
Shinei Miura has optimized the center of gravity by use of the variable weighting system, particularly addressing the mishits typically associated with a long iron. A top line which instills confidence is paired with a sole design which delivers solid turf interaction, no matter the lie.
The 23° ICL-601 includes an 8-gram weight, matching its weight to a standard 4-iron's. This allows the club to be assembled with the same shaft as your iron set or to be fitted with an optimum-performing shaft. As with other forged irons, the lie and loft angles are adjustable - enabling golfers to fit the club seamlessly into their set. Of course, we recommend these adjustments be done by an authorized Miura dealer. All ICL-601 irons have a weight port.
At address, the sole shape lets the clubhead sit in a way that gives golfers confidence not usually found when hitting a long iron. The clubhead's inner cavity allows for a wider sole and lower center of gravity. With a larger sweet spot comes more forgiveness, high launch, and controlled spin rates that will benefit golfers of all skill levels.
"The ICL gives Miura traditionalists the opportunity to add technology to their game, while maintaining the quality and feel of a Miura forged club," says Jason Rutkoski, Miura Golf vice president. "The ICL is a remarkable new product that will benefit golfers from all demographics, by seamlessly fitting their existing set or adding a club to fit that one shot/hole per round."
The ICL-601 has a MSRP of $369.
For more information on Miura Golf visit www.MiuraGolf.com. Follow on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MiuraGolf, on Twitter @MiuraGolfInc and Instagram @MiuraGolf.

TaylorMade Golf Company Appoints Brian Bazzel as Vice President of Product Creation
Seventeen-Year Golf Industry Veteran to Lead Company’s Product Strategy and Development of Metalwoods, Irons, Balls, Putters, Wedges & Accessories
(Carlsbad, Calif.) — TaylorMade Golf Company, an industry leader in product innovation and technology, announced today it has appointed Brian Bazzel, a fixture of TaylorMade’s product creation teams for the last seventeen years, as its new Vice President of Product Creation.
Bazzel, whose product creations have earned the highest accolades in the industry and are played by the best players in the world, will lead product strategy and development efforts for all of TaylorMade’s product lines, including metalwoods, irons, balls, putters, wedges and accessories.
One of the most well-respected product experts in the industry, Bazzel began his career at TaylorMade in 2000 as a member of the company’s research & development team, where he played a critical role in developing the MATT fitting system in addition to SelectFit, considered the ‘most comprehensive fitting system in the industry’ at its launch in 2007.
In subsequent years, his role has shifted into the product creation sector and has since been responsible for the efforts of a variety of TaylorMade’s most prominent and successful product lines, including the highly-popular Burner 2.0, RocketBladez and Tour Preferred irons lines as well as the widely acclaimed and most winning drivers on the PGA TOUR over the last two years, the M1 & M2.
Concurrently, succeeding Bazzel as Senior Director of Product Creation for metalwoods is Tomo Bystedt, whom like Bazzel, has vast experience with many of the company’s product lines which include putters, wedges and most recently, leading iron creation, a position he’s held since 2013 and whose most notable products include RSi, PSi and most recently, the P700 Series. Bystedt, who first joined TaylorMade in 2006, will now lead the company’s efforts in the development and creation of all metalwoods.
In his new role, Bazzel will now oversee one of the most prominent product creation teams in the golf industry, which, in addition to Bystedt and the metalwoods team, includes Bill Price (putters & wedges) and Mike Fox (golf balls & accessories). Bazzel and his team will report directly to CEO David Abeles.
"For five years, Brian has been the driving force behind our metalwoods product creation team, creating groundbreaking products that have invigorated the industry. His vision has helped position TaylorMade as the industry leader in metalwoods innovation and performance, and it is my great pleasure to welcome him to his new role as VP of Product Creation. There’s no doubt in my mind that under his guidance, the TaylorMade brand will continue to see exceptional growth and forge a lasting position as an industry leader across all product categories." -David Abeles, CEO, TaylorMade Golf Company
One Year Later: Zero Friction Receives High Praise for the DistancePro GPS Glove
(OAK BROOK TERRACE, IL) - Zero Friction, maker of technologically advanced performance golf products, unveiled the Zero Friction DistancePro GPS glove nearly one year ago at the PGA Fashion and Demo Experience in Las Vegas.
The Zero Friction DistancePro GPS Glove was debuted in 2016 as a groundbreaking, one-of-a-kind product; and sports writers from respected publications agree.
“The beauty of this product is that you don’t have to carry around yet another gizmo on the course,” said Gary Van Sickle of The Morning Read.
“When it comes to cool new products that are hitting the market, this is about as handy as it gets – a better grip and a distance gauge all in one,” wrote Eric Matuszewski, contributor for Forbes.
Powered by Bluetooth, the readout gives distances to the front, center and back of the green on over 36,000 golf courses programmed worldwide. The GPS device sits conveniently on the glove flap and weighs less than half an ounce.
“After wearing it for a few minutes, I forgot it was there,” said Jeff Ritter of Golf.com.
Zero Friction first entered the golf glove market in 2015 and has continued to evolve. Zero Friction has retained the fifth position in market share for golf gloves with both on course and off course retailers in the U.S. for the past two years according to Golf Datatech.
“Zero Friction makes gloves and does it very well,” said Tim Baines of the Ottawa Sun.
This summer a new 60-second commercial -- which can be viewed HERE -- was produced by The Golf Channel. The commercial highlights the benefits of the DistancePro GPS glove and offers buyers a free dozen ZF Tour Spin Golf Balls with each purchased glove.
“Golfers who want the benefits of a GPS-based, distance-measuring device but who don’t want to carry an extra gadget will love the Distance Pro GPS Glove,” said David Dusek of Golfweek.
“The DistancePro GPS Glove is the convenient combination of a glove which, we wear anyway, and a distance measuring device,” wrote Ed Travis of The A Position.

Bobby Weed Golf Design Undertakes Renovation and Repurposing of Greenacres Country Club
(PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida) – Bobby Weed Golf Design (www.bobbyweed.com) is nearing completion of a comprehensive renovation and repurposing project at Greenacres Country Club, in Lawrenceville, NJ. The work includes renovating the golf course and repurposing a portion of the club’s acreage for residential use.
“Greenacres Country Club will be fully updated and competitive in the marketplace, with newfound capital,” said Bobby Weed. “The course will be renovated to meet today’s and tomorrow’s future member expectations and to provide a fun and interesting round of golf.”
The genesis of the project is the creation of a 14-acre infill development parcel identified by Bobby Weed Golf Design. As the result of a multi-million-dollar transaction, a national homebuilder will develop the land with 98 townhome units. Each household will become a new social member of the club, offering an ongoing revenue stream for the club.
In addition to recapitalizing the club’s balance sheet and funding clubhouse upgrades, the land sale will trigger comprehensive improvements to the entire golf course, including seven new holes and a relocated practice area. The golf course will reopen in late spring 2018.
Established in 1938, Greenacres, just minutes from Princeton, NJ, is a private full-service club featuring an 18-hole golf course, which originally was designed by Devereaux Emmet and was redesigned by George Fazio, in 1971.
Bobby Weed Golf Design was selected for the innovative project due to the firm’s unique expertise in both golf course design and land development.
“The repurposing of Greenacres is an important precedent for any forward-minded club seeking to recapitalize, upgrade its facilities and maintain ownership,” said Chris Monti, senior design associate at Bobby Weed Golf Design.
Total Turf Golf Services, from Philadelphia, is the golf course contractor, and George Ley Company is the irrigation contractor.

Product Review: Jack Nicklaus Apparel
Stop me if you’ve heard this before ... Golf apparel that’s fashion forward, provides a complete range of motion and wicks away moisture. That’s pretty much every golf shirt on the market today, right?
How about if I add one more word - affordable? That word is generally associated with rock-hard golf balls or the goat track of a course that hasn’t been kept up in years. That’s not generally a word you connect to the greatest name in the game, Jack Nicklaus. Think again.
The Golden Bear has teamed with Perry Ellis International to offer a sleek line of golf apparel that not only looks and feels great, but is also gentle on the budget. We’re talking about shorts for $29.99 and shirts for $24.99. An outfit for $55? You’ll pay that (or more) for many shirts, alone.
The shorts boast three technologies:
STAYDRI - The aforementioned moisture-wicking fabric that draws sweat away from the body;
STAYMOTION PLUS - All around stretch for max comfort; and
STAYSCREEN - This blocks the sun’s harmful rays.
The shorts are comfortable, technologically advanced and feature a subtle “cargo” pocket on one side.
The shirts have both the STAYDRI and STAYSCREEN tech, but take away the PLUS from STAYMOTION and you’re focusing on the seams for complete range of motion. Some, such as the gray shirt above, also feature STAYVENT, which is a more breathable fabric.
Check out jacknicklaus.com for everything the Golden Bear is up to - from clothing and equipment to course design and ice cream!
