Rory McIlroy Storms from Behind to Earn His 12th PGA Tour Win

(RELEASE) - Nike athlete Rory McIlroy began the final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship six shots behind the leader before tallying a 65, including seven birdies, to claim his 12th career PGA Tour win and move one step closer to a top finish in the FedExCup Playoffs.

The 4-time major champion improved each round of the tournament (71, 67, 66, 65) and led the field in both driving distance (312.9 yards) and strokes gained (12.249).

“It’s amazing to think how I started this tournament and what was going through my mind after the first three holes. Then all of a sudden, here I am standing with the trophy four days later. It's pretty cool,” McIlroy said.

Fellow Nike athlete Paul Casey finished the tournament in second place.

Rory's wonderful come-from-way-behind victory, in monstrous winds, showed once again that, when he is on form, he remains the best golfer on the planet. Spieth tries very hard, and had one great year, but he just cannot match Rory in pure talent.
