Meeting is Open to the Golf Industry
(GREENWICH, Connecticut) – International Clubmakers Guild (ICG) (www.clubfittersguild.org), golf’s only clubfitting and clubmaking organization that is owned and run by its members, will hold its 2016 Great Lakes Chapter Fall Conference and Golf Outing Sept. 25 at Golfers Advantage, in Fenton, Mich.
The Great Lakes ICG group has been meeting for over 20 years, according to Intriere, and – along with the Spain Chapter – serves as the model for all future ICG Chapters.
ICG members Greg Cournay, president of the Great Lakes Chapter, and Gary Cottrell are organizing the event, which is open to ICG members as well as to non-members. It is requested that participants be involved in the golf industry in some capacity, although it is not required that they be engaged in clubfitting or clubmaking as a full-time enterprise. ICG members will receive Continuing Professional Education points for attending.
The day will begin with continental breakfast, followed by presentations. Ray Tomaszewski, treasurer of the ICG, will report on his experience attending this year’s ICG European Chapter meeting, held Sept. 9-11 in St Andrews, Scotland. Following his report, a single-length iron comparison will be conducted, during which some ICG members will compare distance and dispersion between their irons and the single length irons. Next, ICG member Roy Kaltz will demonstrate a new device he designed which offers a new, more productive way to orient golf shafts during the production cycle of the golf club. Kaltz will show how this device can be used to save clubfitters time and to build better golf clubs. A question-and-answer period also has been scheduled as part of the day’s agenda. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions and problems, which will be answered during the session. Also, ICG member Bob Uebelhor will conduct a presentation, the topic of which has not yet been announced. Following an Italian-style hot lunch, optional golf is scheduled at The Majestic at Lake Walden, in Hartland, Mich.

ICG members fit and make golf clubs for players of all skill levels, from amateurs who want the best equipment for their games to the most accomplished tour players worldwide.
In fact, the winner of the 2016 Ricoh British Open, played July 28-31 at Woburn Golf and Country Club, in Milton Keynes, England, had her clubs and shafts fit by one ICG member and her clubs built by another ICG member.
