Honored by National Golf Course Owner's Association
(Scottsdale, Ariz.) – Troon and Troon-Managed Facilities have been awarded the prestigious “Player Development Award” by the National Golf Course Owner’s Association (NGCOA). All NGCOA award winners will be recognized at the Celebration and Awards Dinner on Thursday, February 8th at the NCGOA Golf Business Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The NGCOA Player Development Award is bestowed upon a course, entity or individual, which has implemented true and tested player development programs, providing effective return-on-investment and an overall welcoming atmosphere for new golfers of all ages.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the NGCOA for our player development efforts,” said Dana Garmany, chairman and CEO, Troon. “We continually challenge our Troon associates to develop who our customers will be 5, 10 and 15 years down the line. It’s imperative that we introduce the great game of golf to new players, while making it more fun for existing players.”
Troon’s commitment to growing the game is perpetuated every day at Troon’s corporate headquarters and at Troon-managed facilities around the world. Troon’s player development efforts are driven both from facility-specific programming and through Troon programs that provide a duplicable platform for clubs to employ grow the game efforts. Troon’s player development programs are two-fold:
- Introduce new players to the game and
- Get the players (and occasional players) to play more, enjoy the game and have fun with golf!
“No one can dispute the influence and scope of Troon,” said Jay Karen, Chief Executive Officer of NGCOA. “But what’s most impressive is how Dana Garmany and his team have leveraged their stature and position to stimulate growth and engagement in our game. We all benefit when Troon introduces thousands of people into golf, and we are grateful.”
Key components to Troon’s player development efforts include, but are not limited to:
- Troon Family Golf
- Troon Junior Club
- Creation of Short Courses and Promotion of 9 Hole Rounds
- Troon’s New Get Into Golf Program
