(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Srixon and Cleveland Golf congratulate staffer Andrew Putnam for his playoff victory over the weekend at the WEB.COM TOUR Panama Claro Championship in Panama City. After finishing 72 holes tied atop the leaderboard at 13-under-par, Putnam made a 12-foot birdie putt on the first sudden-death hole, the par-4 18th, to record his second career WEB.COM win and continue a hot streak that has him in firm control of the Tour’s money list lead.
“It feels awesome, said Putnam, who has finished fifth, T8 and T11 in three previous WEB.COM starts this season. “I’ve played great in every single event this year and had a chance in a couple of them, just didn’t quite get it done. But it all pays off after this week.”
The 28-year-old Putnam trusted the exceptional distance and tour-validated performance of the new, fifth-generation Srixon Z-STAR XV golf ball. Featuring a redesigned Dual Energetic Gradient Growth core with a larger, softer inner core, the Z-STAR XV generates consistently high ball speed on full shots and enhances greenside spin control with the new Spin Skin coating. Putnam also uses new Cleveland Golf RTX-3 Tour Raw blade wedges (54° V-MG and 60° V-MG), which include three of Cleveland’s most innovative wedge technologies ever for the ultimate short-game control and consistency – Feel Balancing, V Sole grinds and the third-generation Rotex Face.
A Tacoma, Wash., native who turned pro in 2011, Putnam took home a $112,500 winner’s check and now leads the WEB.COM TOUR money list with $171,100, more than $43,000 ahead of the nearest competitor. He is essentially a lock to gain PGA TOUR playing privileges for the 2017-18 season, and is looking for redemption after coming up short in retaining his TOUR card during 2015.
“This win means everything – all of the hard work I’ve put in over the offseason, over these last few years getting back to the PGA TOUR,” said Putnam, whose brother, Michael, is also a Srixon/Cleveland Golf staffer. “It was a disappointing year on the TOUR but I know that I have what it takes to be out there, so I’m excited to keep playing well.”
