Titleist Tour Report: Stenson Wins DBC with Pro V1x

Six-Win Week for Titleist Golf Ball loyalists Across Worldwide Professional Tours

(Fairhaven, MA) - Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist Henrik Stenson surged to a two-shot victory and vaulted to the top of the FedExCup standings following a final round 5-under par 66 at TPC Boston on Monday.  Stenson tied the tournament scoring record with a 22-under 262 victory total, with the win assuring him of his first trip to the TOUR Championship.  His first victory of the year comes after several close calls over the past two months which includes runner-up finishes at the Open Championship and WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and tie for 3rd at the PGA Championship.

Stenson was one of the 61 players (61%) in the field of 100 that relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success, more than four times the nearest competitor with 14.  Nine Titleist golf ball loyalists finished among the top 10 and ties at the Deutsche Bank Championship.  Stenson becomes the 17th winner on the 2013 PGA TOUR to rely upon a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, 10 more than the nearest competitor with 7.

In addition to Stenson’s success on the PGA TOUR this week, Titleist players also won on the European, Champions, Japan, Canadian and South African Tours, advancing the year-to-date victory total across the worldwide professional tours to 105, more than three times the nearest competitor with 31.   This week’s player count is below, as well as the 2013 player and win chart:

Titleist Brand Ambassadors Steve Stricker and Graham DeLaet finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, while Jordan Spieth tied for 4th following a 9-under par 62 on Monday … Spieth finished with three consecutive birdies and an eagle to post his best career single round performance as a professional … DeLaet shot a career-best 62 on Sunday, which included 10 birdies … DeLaet tied for 2nd at The Barclays a week earlier … Titleist Brand Ambassador Brendan Steele closed with four consecutive birdies to finish at 12-under par 272 (T20) for the event and advanced 20 spots to No. 69 in the FedExCup standings … His down the stretch performance was significant since the top 70 advance to the BMW Championship at Conway Farms outside Chicago in two weeks.… Among the Titleist golf ball loyalists following Stenson, Stricker, DeLaet and Spieth on the front page of the Deutsche Bank leaderboard were Brian Davis (8th/Pro V1x), and Roberto Castro (Pro V1x), Ian Poulter (Pro V1x), Jason Dufner (Pro V1) and Brendon de Jonge (Pro V1x), who tied for 9th.

CHAMPIONS TOUR/Shaw Charity Classic:  Of the 81-player Shaw Charity Classic field, 65 (81%) relied upon Titleist golf balls, more than 16 times the nearest competitor with 4 … Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Rocco Mediate ran away with the inaugural event, winning by seven shots for his second victory in 17 starts as a Champions Tour rookie … The 50-year-old won the Allianz Championship in February in his first Champions Tour start … Mediate followed up his opening 63 and Saturday 64 with another 7-under 64 on Sunday en route to a 22-under par 191 victory total, equaling the Tour record for lowest total score in a 54-hole event … In addition to the Pro V1x golf ball, the champion relied upon Vokey Design SM4 gap (52) and sand (56) wedges, and a Scotty Cameron Futura X putter for his success … Fellow Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist Bill Glasson fired a course-record 62 to finish at 12-under … he also played a set of the new Titleist CB prototype 714 irons for his success.
JAPAN GOLF TOUR/Vana H Cup KBC Augusta:  Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist Sung-joon Park claimed his first Japan Golf Tour title at the weather-shortened Vana H Cup KBC Augusta … The 27-year-old Korean fired a final-day 3-under-par 69 that gave him a 54-hole aggregate of 12-under 204, two shots clear of his nearest competitor … Park, who has made all nine cuts this season, finished fourth at the Japan Golf Tour Championship, and tied for second at the Diamond Cup and last week’s weather-shortened Kansai Open Championship … Park advanced to third on the 2013 Money List with the win … he also plays Vokey Design SM4 gap (52), sand (56) and lob (60) wedges, as well as a Scotty Cameron GoLo N5 putter.

SOUTH AFRICA/Wild Waves Golf Challenge:  Of the 120-player field, 85 (69%) relied upon Titleist golf balls, more than five times the nearest competitor with 21 … Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist Andrew Curlewis earned his second career Sunshine Tour title with a one shot victory at the Wild Waves Golf Challenge … Curlewis closed with a bogey-free 5-under par 65 en route to a 16-under 194 victory total … Fellow golf ball loyalist Desvonde Botes (Pro V1X) tied for second place, one shot back, while Titleist Brand Ambassador Christiaan Basson (Pro V1x, 913D3 driver, 913F fairway metal, 913H hybrid, 712U utility irons, CB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Kombi S putter) and golf ball loyalist Ulrich van den Berg (Pro V1x) finished five shots behind Curlewis in a tie for fourth place.
