The Players' Choice: What's in the Bag at the 2019 U.S. Open
Graphic showing that Titleistis the overwhelming golf ball choice among players at the 2019 Memorial Tournament
For the 71st consecutive year, Titleist is the most popular golf ball choice among players at the U.S. Open, with 104 players in the 155-man field trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, nearly 6 times more than the nearest competitor with 18 players and more than all other competitor brand golf balls combined.
Titleist is also the top choice among players in hybrids (18) and irons (41). Many players out of the 41 are also electing to put the new T100's, 720 MB's and 720 CB's in the bag for the National Championship.
Vokey Design Wedges also topped the approach, sand and lob wedge category with 190 Vokey models in play. Due to course conditions this week, especially given that it's a U.S. Open, the Titleist Tour Truck was busy helping players adjust and fine tune their wedges, according to Vokey Wedge Tour Representative, Aaron Dill. This week, players are gravitating to lower bounce options like 58° and 60° T-grinds as and L-grinds as well as low bounce K grinds in the 3-4° range.
In addition, 30 players this week are trusting one golf brand, Titleist, from tee-to-green, throughout the entire bag — a vote of confidence that speaks volumes about the performance, consistency and quality of Titleist equipment throughout every club category.
