Series explores unique and remote golf locations around the world
(New York, N.Y.) – Skratch announced the debut of Season 3 of the popular golf series, Adventures in Golf, which explores the game in ways and places never seen before. Season 3 will cover a lot more ground than the previous two with adventures spanning four continents, all serviced by United Airlines, the presenting sponsor of Season 3.
Ten new episodes uncover golf in various forms, from the Japanese art of making clubs, to life near the Arctic Circle, and a round that takes five days to play. This is a season of superlatives - featuring some of the longest, lowest, and coldest rounds of golf around the globe.
The first episode will be released October 9 and viewers can follow the series at YouTube.com/SkratchTV or by liking SkratchTV on Facebook. A new episode will be released each Tuesday through December 11.
For the past three seasons, Skratch has partnered with documentary filmmaker Erik Anders Lang to take viewers on unique adventures around the world as they find the most intriguing stories and personalities in the game.
“I believe that if there are 22 million people in the world who play golf,” Lang says, “there are 22 million ways of playing golf.”
Among the 10 episodes are stories from the Chilly Open, a tournament on a frozen lake in Minnesota; a Japanese inspired golf course owned by a famous wrestler in Buffalo, New York; a no frills municipal course on a $12 million oceanfront Hawaiian plot of land; a course that’s 100 feet below sea level in Death Valley, where temperatures in the summer sit around 120 degrees Fahrenheit; a course in Southern Australia that spans thousands of miles, making it definitively the longest; and a visit to Mr. Miura, a bespoke golf club craftsman in Himeji, Japan - the same area where steel is forged for the samurai sword.
“Skratch’s consistent growth underscores golf’s younger and more diverse fan base,” said Skratch senior spokesperson Zoe Wilson. “Our platforms provide fun, sharable content in a bite-size format that attracts the millennial audience. Season 3 of Adventures in Golf is truly captivating and we’re excited to share Erik Anders Lang’s wild golf adventures with our fans.”
“In listening to our customers and learning about their passions, golf is always a top interest,” said Mark Krolick, vice president, Marketing at United Airlines. "By connecting Erik and his production team to so many unique golf experiences around the world, we’re able to help shine a light on locations and traditions that will no doubt inspire the game’s biggest fans.”
In addition to serving as presenting sponsor of Adventures in Golf, United is the official Airline of the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions and Web.com Tour and provides members of its MileagePlus loyalty program with special access and discounts within the TPC Network, inside-the-ropes access and upgraded hospitality.
Season 4 of Adventures in Golf is currently in production and will be released in 2019.
