Played on Three Outstanding Pete Dye-Designed Golf Courses Including Celebrated Teeth of the Dog
(LA ROMANA, Dominican Republic) – Casa de Campo Resort & Villas – home to the Caribbean’s premier, luxury golf experiences, including the iconic Teeth of the Dog course – will host its 37th-Annual Casa de Campo Open, Sept. 12 – 16.
The 54-hole flighted, stroke-play event (Stableford scoring) features one practice and three tournament rounds played on the legendary resort’s three classic Pete Dye-designed layouts: Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore and The Links. Since opening in 1974, Teeth of the Dog is widely recognized as the No. 1 course in the Caribbean.
For the event, the resort is offering a value-packed stay-and-play package starting at $1,799 (per player, based on double occupancy). Highlights include four nights’ premier accommodations; four-passenger golf cart (per room); daily breakfast, lunch and dinner; welcome dinner and awards banquet; practice round on day of arrival; and unlimited golf daily after tournament play as well as cart fees, range balls, club storage and care.
Also included are unlimited drinks in resort restaurants, bars and lounges, and from the Oasis golf course cart (bottles, mini-bar, premium bottled water, specialty cognacs and premium brand liqueurs are not included); complimentary transfer from La Romana, Santo Domingo or Punta Cana Airports; and all golf resort taxes and service charges on the included items.
In addition to the Casa de Campo Open, upcoming golf events for the remainder of the year include the Casa de Campo Pete Dye Celebration Pro-Am (Nov. 14 – 18), 13th Annual Twosome Championship (Dec. 2 – 8) and Casa de Campo Women’s Getaway (Dec. 7 – 10). “The long running Casa de Campo Open is one the many highlights of our annual tournament and event calendar,” says Andres Pichardo Rosenberg, President of Casa de Campo. “Come enjoy our three exceptional courses, world-class accommodations and amenities and discover why Casa de Campo was not only the first great Caribbean golf destination, but remains at the pinnacle of incredible getaways..”
Teeth of the Dog is a showcase of Pete Dye’s design hallmarks: railroad ties, vast waste areas, peninsula greens and tees, hand-sculpted putting surfaces and a unique assortment of pot bunkers. Oceanfront holes are astoundingly beautiful, causing Dye to famously quip: “I created 11 holes and God created seven.”
Twenty-seven-hole Dye Fore joined Teeth of the Dog in 2002. Its three nines – Chavon, Marina and Lakes – are distinct. Chavon features seven holes running atop cliffs dropping 300 feet, Marina meanders down to a harbor ringed by restaurants and shops, and Lakes is artfully crafted across tumultuous terrain. Golf course architecture aficionados call Dye Fore “the most underrated course in the Caribbean.”
Located in the interior of the property is the resort’s third Dye layout, The Links. The moderately hilly track with tall Bahia grass framing bunkers and undulating greens presents spectacular Caribbean views. Slightly over 7,000 yards from the back tees and playing to a slope of 126, it is considered one of the most-forgiving courses Dye has designed.
