2016 Barracuda Championship Offers More Than Golf at Region’s Only PGA Tour Event

(Reno, Nevada) – Montrêux Golf and Country Club is excited to announce the return of the PGA Tour stop Barracuda Championship to their renowned Jack Nicklaus Signature Course this summer, kicking off on June 27th, 2016.  The Golf Channel will be covering the event, which will feature 132 golfers competing for a $3.2-million-dollar purse.

Numerous events and festivities, in addition to the tournament, are planned to take place at the Montrêux Golf and Country Club during the week of the Barracuda Championship including:

Women’s Day: The 7th Annual Barracuda Championship Women’s Day will take place on June 26th, 2016.  A pre-event golf clinic start the morning, and the afternoon continues with a lunch prepared by local celebrity chef, Mark Estee, mingling and shopping, Bloody Mary & Mimosa Bar, and the 2nd Annual Match Play Dating Game featuring Juan Pablo, star of the ABC hit TV show, “The Bachelor”.  All attendees will receive a gift bag with commemorative items, and season passes to the golf tournament.  Single tickets and tables are available. The event benefits local charities including: The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum, The First Tee of Northern Nevada, and Each One, Tell One.

Mixology at Montrêux: Everyone’s favorite “cocktail competition” which will name one of the five competing bartenders “Barracuda Bartender of the Year” will take place at the Coors Light 19th Hole on July 2nd from 3-6pm. Ike and Martin will entertain guests as they sip on exclusive libations and partake in lawn games including corn hole, bucket pong, and yard dice from 6 pm to 8pm that evening.

Drive, Chip, & Put Competition: Saturday practice hole.  Time TBC.

Hole-in-One Competition: Qualify daily (Thursday – Sunday) on the first practice hole for the $500,000 grand prize. An additional $500,000 will be donated to the Folds of Honor, a 501c3 that provides scholarships to the dependents of military members that are deployed. The final competition will take place on Sunday at the 18th hole.

William Hill Wine Walk: Sip your way through the tournament with William Hill. The winery will be hosting four “wine walk” stops throughout the course Thursday – Sunday from 10am–5pm.  

Concert on the Green: This annual “invitation only” event will be held on June 26th at 5:30pm, with a blend of rock, jazz, funk, and blues music from the Reno Jazz Orchestra, along with guest vocalists Trey Stone and Jackie Landrum.  Prior to the event, attendees will gather for a picnic starting at 4:30pm. Wine and Beer will be available for purchase, as well as BBQ Dave’s Food Truck will be serving up items for dinner (cash only).

Nature’s Bakery Heroes Hangout: All veterans, current military members, and first responders are given complimentary access to the golf tournament (with appropriate identification) and can enjoy a fully catered lunch and fully hosted bar at the Nature’s Bakery Heroes Hangout on the 9th Green, Thursday through Sunday.

Titos Terrace: Tito’s Terrace just off the ninth green offers attendees a unique hospitality experience during the tournament including upgraded concessions, two complimentary cocktails, a DJ, and bar games.
