Hall of Fame LPGA Legend to Participate in Fund-Raising Tournament
(Laredo, TX) — The MAX, Laredo’s award-winning golf course designed by distinguished architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., will host the inaugural Nancy Lopez Scholarship Invitational on June 14. Three years ago, Lopez was a special guest of the City of Laredo when the new clubhouse was unveiled and the intent to establish a Nancy Lopez Scholarship fund was announced. The first two recipients of the grants, a local senior high school boy and girl who play golf and who embody the scholarship criteria, will be presented with a significant check by Lopez at a gala dinner on June 13.
“The City of Laredo enjoys a special relationship with the legendary Nancy Lopez and she has proven to be an inspiration to our community,” said Jesus Olivares, City Manager, City of Laredo, Texas. “The presentation of the first two Nancy Lopez Scholarships to the deserving winners will help underwrite the cost of their college education. The Nancy Lopez Invitational will raise funds for future scholarships and we hope to have Nancy back with us each year to make those presentations.”
Playing spots in the Nancy Lopez Invitational on June 14 are available, as is a special package for both the gala dinner and golf. For more information or to make a reservation, contact The MAX at (956) 726-2000 or dgthemaxlaredo@gmail.com.
