Hao-Ting Li overturned a two-shot deficit to record victory
(RELEASE) - Nike Golf athlete Hao-Tong Li produced a masterclass in ball striking as he overturned a two-shot deficit to record victory at the Volvo China Open, his maiden win on The European Tour and his fifth as a professional at just 20 years of age.
The youngster from Hunan in China utilized exclusively Nike equipment in Beijing, including the Vapor Fly Pro driver, the RZN Tour Platinum golf ball and the Vapor Fly Pro 3 and 4 irons as he recorded a three-stroke victory at Topwin Golf and Country Club.
The Nike Vapor Fly Pro irons, which were designed at The Oven: Nike’s R & D facility in Fort Worth, Texas, have been engineered to launch the ball higher and farther, offering forgiveness but also more workability. The lightweight RZN material in the irons allows more mass to be distributed lower and deeper, resulting in a higher ball flight, while the Modern Muscle technology balances the center of gravity in the center of the face to optimize stability, energy transfer and feel.
The Nike RZN Tour Platinum ball is used by a number of Nike athletes, including four-time major winner Rory McIlroy. Featuring a four-piece urethane cover design, the RZN Tour Platinum ball comprises four key components: RZN 4.0, Speedlock X Core, Speedlock Mantle and Flight Suit Cover. These combined technologies add yardage and a softer feel versus the previous RZN Platinum, and also offer a superior performance in windy conditions.
"Although I was two shots back after Saturday, I felt I was really in a great position," says Li, who recorded a 66 in round three thanks in part to a stellar long game display and impressive control of the golf ball. He also benefited from the stability offered by the Nike Lunar Control 4 shoes.
"I knew I had to be positive and attack the lead on Sunday, and four birdies on the front nine, followed by the same coming back in showed that. It’s a special feeling to get that first European Tour win, but to get it here in China is incredible," adds Li, who finished on 22-under-par following a flawless bogey-free final round of 64.
The victory marked back-to-back wins for the Swoosh after Englishman Jordan Smith won on the European Challenge Tour seven days earlier.
