Whispering Pines Golf Club Rated by Golf Digest as One of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses

(Trinity, Texas) Golf Digest has released its biennial rankings of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses for 2019-2020 and Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas, advanced to No. 54 on the prestigious list.  Whispering Pines is the highest rated Texas course with only one other club in the state making the top 100.  Whispering Pines Golf Club debuted on the America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses list in 2013 at No. 75.

Since opening in 2000, Whispering Pines Golf Club, a Nicklaus Design led by architect Chet Williams, has been ranked the No. 1 course in Texas 11 times by the Dallas Morning News, and earned Golf Digest’s top rating as the Best in State in its 2017-2018 list. Additionally, the club has a challenging nine-hole short course named The Needler, which was inspired by the great short course at Pine Valley and the Par 3 course at Augusta National. Whispering Pines operates on a two season basis and reopens in March.

In reviewing the course, rater remarks included the following:
“Some of the best greens I’ve ever played;” and
“Almost an Augusta National experience with amazing greens, and an all-world par 3 course that is as good as any.”

Just 80 miles north of Houston along the shores of Lake Livingston sits Whispering Pines Golf Club, one of the best private golf clubs in the country. The club was founded not only to offer its discerning members a superior golfing experience on an exceptional course, but it also was created to promote amateur golf and to benefit charitable causes on a local, national and international level. Whispering Pines is operated by The Spirit Golf Association, a 501 (c) (3), for its members. To date, The Spirit Golf Association has contributed more than $12 million to its charitable activities.

Whispering Pines Golf Club also hosts The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship, a biennial event that showcases the best women and men amateur golfers from around the world.  Some 80 players from 20 countries and six continents compete for gold medals in the 54-hole tournament. The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship is scheduled on November 7-9, 2019.
