The Caddie Makes the Call: Michael Collins Signs New ESPN Deal

With one of the most unique backgrounds in sports media, Michael Collins brings a different perspective to ESPN viewers and readers when he reports on golf. And with a new ESPN deal signed and sealed, he’ll be doing it for years to come.

Collins’ entertaining reporting reflects his 20-year career as a standup comedian, but his vast knowledge of the sport as a former professional caddie adds depth and credibility. And his easy rapport with athletes often generates reactions not heard anywhere else.

With his new deal, Collins will continue his golf coverage for ESPN.com but also the Matty and the Caddie podcast he does with SportsCenter anchor Matt Barrie. He also has appeared on numerous ESPN programs and platforms including Get Up!, SportsCenter, First Take and ESPN Radio to discuss golf and other topics.

Collins, who has been with ESPN since 2011, will be on-site to cover the LPGA’s Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions this weekend in Orlando and then the following week he will be at the PGA TOUR Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego. Tiger Woods is expected to make his 2019 debut in that event.

In the video above, Collins lists his Top 3 reasons for being happy to continue his work with ESPN.

Michael Collins, Emily Archacki and Andy Hall produced the video.
