Sligo Wear Staff Professional Steve LeBrun Answers The Call to Lead the Way in the U.S. Open Championship

(Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) – Known as a design leader in golf attire, Sligo Wear leads the way in today’s first round of the U.S. Open Championship.  That’s because Steve LeBrun, the veteran tour pro of the Sligo staff, was in the first group to tee off on hole No. 1 at San Francisco’s historic Olympic Club.

LeBrun, 34, is making his U.S. Open debut, but is no stranger to Sligo Wear.  The West Palm Beach native was the first tour player who signed an endorsement agreement in 2005 to represent the Ontario, Canada-based apparel company that is building an international reputation for bright colors, bold designs, and the technical fabrications golfers need.

Until June 2, LeBrun had no plans to be at the U.S. Open this year.  That day he was on a family vacation, in South Carolina driving to Disney World when he was notified that a spot in a Sectional Qualifying Tournament had become available for him – in Ohio.  So, he changed his plans.

LeBrun took his wife and daughter to Orlando and left them there to enjoy the park while he took off for a chance to qualify for the U.S. Open.  He shot even par 71 at the Ohio State Scarlet Course and a 1-under 69 at Scioto Country Club for a 140 total, which earned one of 16 available spots.  He went back to Orlando, relaxed a little, and then began to gear up for the Olympic Club.

“It is great to see how it all worked out for Steve getting into the U.S. Open,” said Shawn Aucoin, Director of Sales and Marketing for the rising global brand.  “He has been a tireless brand ambassador for us since the beginning and having it turn out the way it did makes all the extra effort worthwhile.”

LeBrun is one of three members of the Sligo Wear professional staff at the U.S. Open this week, joining Justin Hicks and Brice Garnett – who are paired together for the first two rounds.

Sligo Wear’s reputation for introducing technologically advanced materials and vibrant colors is reinforced by its eclectic 2012 collection that includes distinctively designed golf shirts, short- and long-sleeved wind shirts jackets, sweaters and technical solid and patterned pants and shorts.
