(GULF SHORES, ALABAMA) – SEC football is the gift that keeps on giving, especially for University of Georgia fan Karen Perkins.
Perkins of Atlanta won a pair of tickets to the Dec. 3 SEC Football Championship game between LSU and Georgia at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome for winning the SEC Championship Ticket Giveaway Contest, conducted by Golf Gulf Shores and Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism.
The fantastic contest, based on which SEC fan has the best Team Spirit, was conducted on Golf Gulf Shores’ Facebook page.
Perkins posted a photo showing her with knife and fork in hand, prepared to eat a small, stuffed Tiger on a plate in her kitchen. The photo can be seen at www.facebook.com/GolfGulfShores.
No. 1 LSU defeated Perkins’ Bulldogs, 42-10, to win the SEC title and will now face No. 2 Alabama in the Allstate BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 9, 2012.
The contest is one of several programs planned by Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism as result of their sponsorship of the Southeastern Conference, announced earlier this year.

Jenkins and his group of nine golfers stayed four days at The Beach Club and played seven rounds of golf this past fall in Gulf Shores, making the group automatically eligible to enter into the contest held by Golf Gulf Shores. He received the full amount for golf and lodging as a rebate of the group’s trip, which totaled $4,000. Each group that booked its fall golf vacation to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach on golf.gulfshores.com was eligible to win.
The winning group has traveled to several other golf destinations – including Florida, Myrtle Beach and Atlanta – but Jenkins says Gulf Shores and Orange Beach was at the top of the group’s list for a return visit.
“They loved the golf courses and beach atmosphere,” Millar says.
